Corse Dynamics through Motowheels sells such a rod for $60 (which includes one of the two end pieces with the correct threads) that allows for on-the-bike adjustments of the shifter arm position without having to disassemble the unit. I agree that every other bike I have owned seemed to get it right, but my $28,000 Tricolore somehow couldn't manage it. I guess those reverse threads on one end would have destroyed Ducati's profit margin on the bike.
