Hello folks,

I am in need of a quick turn throttle for a 2018 V4S and finding conflicting information.

I contacted omnia racing over in Europe as they have Domino throttles for the V4 in stock (back ordered with everyone in the US). However, omnia says the throttle is only compatible with 2019+ bikes. Which is weird because hsbk and bellisimoto both list 2018 has compatible on their US sites. Not sure who to believe.

If domino is a no go for my 2018, has anyone heard of or used Jetprime quick throttkle? They have an "e-wire" kit that seems to convert the electronic throttle to cable throttle with the old school throttle tube cams one can swap to get quicker throw like the old days. Anyone done this??

Domino E-wire on My 1299 was ass. Sent it back for an exchange 4 months ago haven’t heard back. Nearly as big a waste of money as my H&M quickshifter which shit itself and almost killed me after 1500km (all road km before I converted the bike to track). Still waiting on my replacement/refund on that too (re: Cycler post by @craig bush)

Thanks for sharing andy. Do you mean Jetprime e-wire was ass or the domino RBW was ass? They seem like two different products.....

They don’t make a Domino RBW for the 99s. You have to mod the V2/4 RBW to make it work. Also from a mechanical perspective (mechanical rotation) the Domino RBW doesn’t have any less rotation than stock so I’m not sure how it’s a QT unless they are progressively ramping the voltage curve.

Was easier twisting the grip on the handle than turning that thing when it was installed lol. Sorry yeah it was the Jetprime e-wire that sucked. They use the domino housing unit so my mind went straight there.

The electronic unit available for the v4 would be brilliant I reckon. The one I felt on a mates s1000 was awesome. I would have gone that way myself if it was available for the older models.

Brad might be able to help.

Yeah been in touch with Brad last couple months. He tried his best, but could not locate any US stock and no ETA for backorder either. So I figured I'd go straight to a European distributor and omnia seems to have it in stock.

OK got it, thanks. So the throttle spring they used didn't feel right? How was the throttle control in general as well as throw? Was it more direct/snappy and less throw?

I have the Domino on my 2018 V4, it works great.

The rotation isn’t much shorter, maybe 10 degrees but I find it is much easier to get to full throttle than stock

I got mine from WRS.IT, good pricing and quick shipment

You are the man.

On the rotation, domino lists this throttle as a 65 degree throttle. My other bike has a KTM powerparts quick throttle which also happens to be a 65 degree throttle.

Thank you gentlemen, this forum is great.

I like to support domestic vendors but burton is correct, EU has better pricing, availability and delivery than domestic. WRS is the best there is.

Interesting, I have both the Domino quick turn throttle and the H&M quick shifter and love both.

You have to be careful where and how you mount the QS on these bikes, they are super sensitive to heat.

Also which H&M did you have?

The one that you can only adjust the shifter sensitivity or the one that you program all the tables?

WRS are great, but I’d also give a shout out for motostorm. They price very competitively and you can also get up to 10% further discount off your order simply by leaving reviews for items listed on their website - regardless of whether you purchased from them. Most recently I bought Ohlins FKR108 fork cartridges and a DU468 shock from them which worked out significantly less expensive than anywhere else.

… I’d also give a shout out for motostorm...

Agreed re: Motostorm. One caveat though is warranty claims - some items purchased from Europe might have warranty claims rejected in the US. I considered ordering a Dainese suit from Motostorm.it and they told me I would have to send it to Europe if I needed to make a warranty claim. I don’t know know definitively that this is true - just what I was told.

Cheers @endodoc I'll manage with the stock unit for a while longer and come back to you once I feel like an upgrade.

@TomFoolery the e-wire felt pretty good until it was all together on the bike. There was serious drag in the line somewhere and after removing, adjusting, refitting, probably a dozen times I couldn't get any improvement. I think the problem is because it retains the stock rbw unit. So to offer the quick action mechanism they use an oblique/oval shaped insert connected with a cable which introduces extra friction when you turn the throttle - very snappy to close but had to wrestle it on in every corner, not ideal when you wanna be light on your hands haha <--- shouldn't be a problem for V4 owners however as you have the plug n play option from Domino which i've heard good things about.

@Steven31371 as for the HM shifter, it was sublime for the first 1500km. It was just the standard red plus model (straight swap from stock, no extra loom or anything). When it first malfunctioned it cut power (as it would when shifting usually) when I was cranked over in the middle of a blind corner & sent me across into oncoming... One turn later I would have been under a car... In a straight line in any gear it would sporadically cause the bike to start surging as it cut power thinking I was trying to shift. Definitely an upgrade to stock when it works but I haven't had any problems like that since going back to oem unit. However that still gets a bit sticky sometimes so definitely not totally satisfied with it atm either.

OK quick updates -

WRS says domino is unavailable with no ETA.
Same story with Motostorm.
Omnia is adamant that 4079.03.13-01 (it superceded 4079.03.13-00) will NOT fit the 2018 bike. Supposedly they called Domino to verify.

I am also going to contact SLR to see if they can just tune a quicker throttle into my map. I understand I wont get the hardware benefits / improved feel. Will update.

I ordered from motostorm last year. Looking at my order history on their site it was this version

DM-4079.03.13-01 DOMINO RBW ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL DUCATI V4

Works perfectly (2018 bike)

The only difference in all of the electronic Ducati throttles and aftermarket RBW units are the potentiometer values specifically the primary POT values. All of the Siemens ECU bikes should be the same. For the non Siemens ECU I have a dongle that plugs into the throttle and then the ECU to change the values. You can effectively make the Domino work on any bike that has RBW.
