Quickshifter sensor replacement

Help Support Ducati Forum:

If there is one thing for certain that I have adopted since venturing out with this brand 7 years ago is that self reliance is a virtue. If you are going to stick to the platform it will really pay dividends to be able to do as much as possible on and for the bike as you can.

Some things may be intimidating at first but it passes. There is a wealth of information on this platform but I advise you to devise some methodology of elucidating who walks the walk and who googles a manual but has no real experience regarding your question.

With regard to a suitable replacement for the stock QS, I have “personally” tried the Cordona, Translogic, BSD and a generic. All of them are good. The Cordona is hard to beat and it’s not overladen with gizmos. If you need more then perhaps the HM line.

I 100% agree, you would expect more support. Clearly their products haven't been developed enough.

I think that's kind of the nature of the beast. You are essentially buying a retired race platform. The development comes model year to model year. Hence the 2022 Panigale is a much more refined package than the 2018.

Just FYI I did pull the stock sensor off, open it up, clean, lubricate and adjust it and it works OK again. It is just a pretty basic mechanical switch so was probably just gummed up with dirt and dust. Happy to have saved $500 and another trip to the dealer & more time off the road :)

did the same, with additional polishing.
i like "simple" mechanics.
but this one could be better imho.
so it is not clear to me why the steel-pushrod is softer than its aluminium-bushing.
maybe i replace that with brass.

Hi i need help i know this is common i have 1299s 2017 and DQS is fu.... up in hi rpms from 4 to 5 miss shifts and same from 5 to 6. Which QS is better CORDONA of TRANSLOGIC thanks a lot.

I liked the HM best of all of those, I didn’t get the one that lets you program kill times, but the one that allows you to adjust how sensitive it is on the shift was a very very simple adjustment function to work with fir a novice and made a huge difference for me.

this is from a sensor which I got cheap. not working/errors.
cause was a broken wire near the housing. maybe the flimsy cable tie fixation?
anyway, that was a quick fix.

My Quick shifter sensor was dead from new. The sensor housing was so tight that the internal peg couldn’t move to activate the microswitch(es). I took it apart and freed it up, but still didn’t work up or down. The Ducati switch is a terrible design for any bike, especially a high-end “race” bike. My much less expensive Aprilia RS660 has a wonderfully smooth/accurate up/down quick shifter.

Anyway, I ordered both the Translogic TLS-DCS and the Cortana GP ASG versions for comparison. As discussed, they’re both strain gauge type, so are much more reliable than micro switches and don’t affect shifter feel or travel. I haven’t decided which one to install yet, but the other will be a good spare if needed.

I'd bet the Aprilia RS660 QS is the same OEM as the Ducati. Everyone is doing the same 2.5V shifter.

FWIW, I didn't like the Cordona. Its way to sensitive with no way to adjust it.

the Sensor i bought was from a Aprillia, same microswitch design.
but Domino offers also a Hall based model that looks equal. maybe...? i don't think.

if everything is right, this sensor acts
wonderfully smooth/accurate
even in a Ducati. fingers crossed
