Would definitely be one of the bikes in my stable if I had a stable to build on lol.

Love this motorcycle in every way possible. Looks awesome, sounds amazing and 120 ft.lb torque?? WHAT?? Insane!

Wasn't what I was expecting given the headline..:D...but cool bike none the less...

Thanks Phil.

That's the looking glass into the future.
I honestly believe that electric bikes are going to take over sooner than we think, and may be the next type of bike that I buy.

A DUCATI of course. With Skyhook suspension.
I do hope the dash doesn't fog up;)

I saw it in person it's limited in quantity to 40 pieces I believe or 70 the gas charged forks one is like 70 grand it has the best motorcycle gauge in the world .... They say there's an electronic package with a heads up display on the helmet visor ? Sick

Very neat concept but I feel something must be done about the sound it emits from the cockpit perspective. As it currently stands the frequency of the electric motor whine is much too high, creating a near constant nails on chalk board affect. It does sound great from the passerby perspective, however, and it looks terrific. Range anxiety, charging station infrastructure, battery replacement costs, and unacceptable charge times are the primary hurdles this platform will have to overcome to be successful.

In a controlled way/management, commercial bus, taxis within city limits, personal weekend superbike fun (as the topic shows), electric inverter is still ok.

But daily transport usage, not quite yet till battery technology improves leapt and bound...maybe petroleum companies and oil-economy dependant countries would not want to see this happen too fast:) but at a slower pace....

Recent OEM's show cases of electric vehicles for personal buy/use, even KTM/BMW...mainly to flex "I have advance technologies and competency" muscle to the industry....is a niche and premium ownership for first adopters...

Motor control has been around the industrial industries, a lot of such know-how companies want to have a slice of the automotive industry,(Tesla?)..but come-on...does it mean 50-100 years of internal combustion engine research just go to waste, all the effort and heritage by audi, merce, BMW, GM etc...just be taken over by electric motor and go down the drain....I think not.

Lets' have a compromise, perhaps Extended-range EV and hybridization of cars...

I still like the smell of gasoline/diesel...:)

9:20

Is that the exhaust note ?

I thought electric bikes had no exhaust ???

Whatever that is sounds twin like :)

It's not a technology problem. It's a distribution problem. For which the oil companies already have the infrastructure.

Electric vehicles won't ever be particularly popular until/unless the OEM's (along with energy distribution companies like the oil/gas companies) realize that no sizable slice of the population is going to be content with spending 2/4/8 hours to refill their electric vehicle.

The solution is already in front of 'em. I'm surprised no one seems to be working towards it. Make the batteries into a an easy-to-swap cassette type of arrangement with standardized sizes. Then setup charging stations at every gas station.
You drive in, you swap out your low battery for a fresh one, pay appropriate amount for the electrical energy stored in it, and off you go. The station charges up the battery cassette and it's there for the next customer.

When that happens, electric vehicles will become a serious consideration for personal transportation. Until it happens, electric vehicles will be expensive curiosities, toys for the rich and the poseurs.

Very cool and good to see innovation like this. Heard much about the NY Track they ran it on as well and it does seem outstanding!

I would live to test ride one, just to see what it's like... But I would miss the sound and smell of combustion

Yes one may certainly miss the sound.
Especially if brought up with it as a norm.

But I don't think i'd miss the smell.
I don't know how old you are, but I can remember the days when you could pull up at the lights with the window down(in summer) and smell the various engine exhausts around you in the traffic.
After unleaded fuel came in with cats and they got it squared away with Multi-point Electronic Fuel Injection now you don't hardly smell anything compared to the old days.

Hell I wonder if it would be possible to poison oneself with Carbon Monoxide any more.

Nah, I don't know anything about the days before unleaded (I'm 27) but I like the way the exhaust smells from the panigale at least... In an odd sort of way

I do like the smell of race gas and e85. Everytime income to a stoplight, it's a guarantee that I'm goin to be asked by my passanger what that smell is if they've never been in my car before. Explaining never gets old. Smells sooo gewddddd!

I wouldn't miss any exhaust smell on the bike though. Hell, if this bike was affordable now (less than $15k) and mass produced, I'd get one.

i have seen the bike up close and a few friends have ridden and all have been very impressed
