Did you put the gel insert in the seat? It's been a night and day difference for me. Feels like I'm sitting on a pillow now.

Maybe you have delicate hip bones.
 
yes i sent my seat to lui myself they installed the gel and sent it back to me. yes its night and day from the stock seat. have you ever had the comfort seat? have you road 250 + miles in a day?

the luimoto seat looks fantastic no question and yes its fine for riding around town. do yourself a favor if your riding distances get the comfort seat. i had the comfort seat got the lui sold the comfort cause i didnt think i needed it again. road 500 miles in 2 days lets just say i re ordered the comfort seat.

if you like the lui stitching they have a cover for the comfort seat too.

In for this answer. If my stock 899 seat had this fabric, I would be fine. I have long legs and the comfort seat is still ok height-wise BUT I don't like feeling like I'm sitting on top of the bike..

Afraid to undo the staples and trim an inch only for the fabric to look like dog poop after trying to stretch to the new shape......
 
I don't get the "on top the bike feel". Is it because I'm heavy and sink in more? (230+, for now. :()

The bike feels as it should to me. Still need stomp grips with the comfort seat.

I might get an extra set of Stomp grips and cut them up for a feel other spots other than the tank where I contact the bike.

I found with the stock 1199 seat, the cover is glued to the foam so you have to cut it as well. not sure about 899.

Amen to that those foot pegs should be a recall I think they are designed to slip off!
 
I know i am very late to the party but which seat, if any, offers the least amount of slippage and the rider less prone to sliding into the tank? Comfort or race?

I have Race Seats on my 2015 R1 and my Ducati 1299. It's always one of my first purchases. It keeps me from sliding around on the seat. It fits me better and is not as hard as the stock seat. On the R1 and 1299, I used to slide around a lot. With the R1 I bought the Race Seats seat with a ridge at the back to keep me in place during hard acceleration. With the 1299, the seat back is close enough that the ridge is not necessary.

Shown below is the 1299 Race Seats seat.

This is a complete seat I assum? Not just a seat cover?

How thick is this seat?

I am quite sarisfied with the 1299 seat which was a huge imprevement from the 1199 stock seat but it could be a bit grippier when riding with leathers and I have been thinking of race seats options.

riding my bicycles with the hard mini racing seats developed over the years by the De Sade family ... toned my butt and I can safely ride over really bumpy roads without anal penetration ...by said seats .The stock seat on my 2017 ,1299 S ,feels very comfortable to me ... but ! as another post stated ... it could /should be ,GRIPPIER .IT'S A LITTLE TO SLIPPERY SO I'M GONNA GLUE SOME 400 GRIT TO THE DAMN THING ... HA ... HA ... HA .
no laffin matter ! WHUT ...am I gonna glue over this seat ???:eek:
