Radiator Guards?

Ducati Forum

Hi,

I fitted the R&G upper and lower guards about two weeks ago, probably took 2 hours. It was a bit of a pain, fairings off, slacken off bolts, push tabs in etc. However, once in place they are a perfect fit and look nice, no complaints here.

Any other feedback on the Evotech ones now that they've been installed for a while? And where are the folks in the US purchasing theirs outside of Evotech directly?

Have the Evo Tech guards in since new and have been commuting daily with no noticeable increase in the coolant temp. Sits well in front of the radiator and secure. Best part, took a few minutes to put each on and no zip ties required. Very light and black looks nice too.

Have been using Evotech, fits perfectly. The product is light but very strong.

I personally think a radiator guard is a must have before the other accessories.

One month ago, my motard which I have been riding for the past 3 years oil radiator was leaking due to a stone damaging the adaptor. I have been using a DIY mesh which served no purpose all these while.

I'm trying to find some guards to suit the bike, but have read mixed reviews of the R&G ones (attached using cable ties - seems a bit Heath Robinson for this kind of bike) and the quality is not great.

Similarly, for the Evotech ones - you need to buy two and from what I've read, the fit on other bikes (eg Ducati Monsters) may be a bit dodgy. However, the pic of the lower guard on their website does look quite good - but the mesh seems quite dense (perhaps restricting airflow?)

Cox Racing don't have one for the Pani yet, and I don't think there is a UK distributor.

Rizoma may have one in the pipeline.

Anyone have any other options? How difficult is it to make your own? What would you need? Are there any custom makers in the UK?

Thanks Steve but this is not the HOW TO: built a radiator guard by Beanflicker.

Fabio...Oh....sorry.... Perhaps we do not have one then.... Which guards are you installing?? R&G??
If you havent bought them yet it appears Evotech is the way to go...appears to be a 5 minute job...

Not a problem. If you read the beanflicker post, he mentioned an "how to build a guard" from scratch. This is the one I'm looking for.

Fabio... I do see reference to Beanflickers How to... but cannot find it in the archive.... I am still looking though...

Hey Steve

Did you find anything on this matter yet?

I tried to send a PM to beanflicker but no reply so far.

Thanks

I searched hi and lo and found plenty of reference to the how to and looked at every single thread/post Bean submitted and nothing...so unless I am missing something obvious I drew a blank... I am sorry man....
