Radiator Guards?

Ducati Forum

Help Support Ducati Forum:

We have the R&G ones in stock, that's what I put on my bike, they go all the way to the edges and are mounted very firmly but don't require the radiator to be removed to install.

Here's a link to them:
R&G Panigale Radiator Guards

Here they are on my bike:

Jarel, how do the R&G guards mount (zip ties, bolts, etc)? It looks like you had to take the side and lower fairings off for the install. Is this correct or can you slip them in like the evotech? Thanks, they look good.

I think its R&G for me....my dealer says its a b*tch too fit though, he's got one on his track bike...

They have tabs that bolt on to the radiator mounts. Not a simple slap-on the outside like the Evotech, you have to remove the fairings, remove the plastic shroud around the radiator, and remove the mounting bolts for the radiator to fit the guards up. Once they're on, they're very solid, no worries about them coming loose.

Hey mate the Mechanic and I fitted mine together, this made it alot easier....done in about 20min.
Highly recommend the R&G

Fitted r&g to mine... Look good. Real solid fit, but difficult to fit on your own....sore knuckles now

I have a set, but have not enjoyed taking the fairings off/on for my last 2 mods. Is there a particular sequence for taking them on/off? Do any other parts (fairings/ducts, etc.) need to be removed first? It just has been a bear putting them back on, getting all the slots lined up. snapped in...

Send the R&G ones back and get Evotech instead. As per my other email it took two of us 5 hrs to fit and we snapped both the tabs of the upper fairings. They look good now but if you don't want to go thru the pain and trauma don't start the job!!

Has anyone noticed running temp increases after a rad guard install?
I installed the top and bottom evotech ones last night and this morning I noticed roughly and increase of just under 10*C.
Temps in Sydney's north west were reasonably cool, but she was running at 104*C. Normally I would expect 95ish in the same conditions.

I noticed that the bike will get up to 104c sitting at lights in Canberra. This is without radiator guards. On the run at 100kmh and above it will be around 85 to 90 degrees. Don't think it's the radiator guard that is increasing your engine temp. I think it's running at normal temp.

I have the EvoTech. Look great. Dealer installed them when they were replacing the radiator that had a monster hole in it. Wish I had installed them before getting the hole! ;)

My temps are no different with the guards in place...

Don't know why the omission of this critical part for the bike. There are other bikes with low mounted radiators that come with shield. Weird the 1199 does not have it out of the box.

For what it's worth, I have the evo tech lower ( no upper). Lower is easy to install , literally a 7 minute job and the supercorsas certainly flick a lot of .... to the lower radiator. Upon install, I already had a lot of pebble dings. Granted, it may restrict air flow a little, but beats having a radiator leak. As I mentioned, I only installed it on the lower portion that is likely to get the majority of pebble dings anyway.

Lower gets the most debris, no doubt. Top one is easy to install Evotech as well, just need to find the right angle and it props right in. Now removing the top one is more tricky, hard to find that perfect angle to slide it back out. The Evotechs don't disappoint for these radiator guards, and looks perfect! Even the logo on the top one is cool as heck!

I have had Evotech's upper and lower since I purchased my bike new last May 2012....love their simplicity in installation and protection...not a problem since..:D.

Installed the Evotech upper and lower on my machine shortly after purchase. Decision to go this route was mostly influenced by this thread and no regrets that's for sure. Great quality, functionality, appearance and a breeze to install. Reasonably priced as well.
