2022 V2 headlights died while on the highway in the pitch black!

Low beam does not work at all, and highbeam will only turn on for 15-30 seconds before shutting off..

I'm thinking there's a loose connection. Will be booking an appointment with the service department when they open this morning.

Small update, went to the dealer and they could not find any faults and said everything's working fine.

Rode again that following night and same issue is still occurring.

I'll have to go back again and hope they can actually fix this..

Can you pull the nose fairing and see if the plug for the headlight assembly is seated? or check for a bent pin in the plug. (I'm stumped on how to unplug it myself). You might loosen the zip ties for the loom around the headstock as there might be a chaffed wire causing an over current situation.

The Canadian bikes are different hardware because of the DRL requirements.

Welcome to the world of electrical nightmares on these bikes.

Thanks! Glad to be here lol. Headlight issues I'm not too phased about but the engine is the scary bit. Heard these newer Ducatis are pretty reliable though mechanically so we will see what happens.

Ducati did mention that if resetting all their software stuff didn't work then they will book me in to inspect the headlights and wiring which they also told me will take 5+ hours of labour as they have to remove the nose fairing. Sounds a bit excessive for removing the nose fairing but doesn't matter to me if its under warranty. I checked the easily accessible stuff last night and couldn't find anything wrong.

I posted about this on reddit and someone else is having the exact same issue as me without a fix currently so we will see what happens.

FYI in your diagnosis, my lights stay off in the dark until it is running on a US spec bike.

Yeah all my testing has been with the bike running/sitting on in neutral. Super weird and very dangerous. Got caught staying out a bit too late with my tinted visor on and the lack of headlights+tinted visor+no street lights meant I could not see a single thing for my 15km ride home on the highway.

Calling them headlights, even when they work, is a fallacy.

Terminal 4 is the ground on the headlamp plug. I would check continuity to B- at the plug for starters.

In the end, the dealer will probably replace the non-serviceable assembly.

Assuming DRL = Daytime Running Lights. My version (US) has that.

Yes, from what I undersand Canadian V2 bikes do not have the daytime running light switch at the throttle housing. The OP lists Canada as his location.

Not sure about the V2, but the Canadian V4 has the DRL and the button, but it is disabled in the ECU.

for the limited number of bikes they sell in Canada it’s probably less expensive to disable via software than having a separate production run and region specific parts.

I wonder if the dealer can turn it back on. With the OBDStar I can disable my V4 DRL, I'd presume its the same way they're disabling it for the Canadian bikes.

we have DRLs it’s just always on, there’s no switch to turn it off

Yes, the dealership can turn the function on or off through the software
