On an Ohlins shock installed on the 1199 (and I may be mistaken), I believe 6-7 threads may be visible in stock trim. But it doesn't matter, 1199, 1299, etc., you don't want to arbitrarily set your bike to the same settings found on another bike... there's too many variables to consider. If you want to stray from the stock settings, then do so in small increments. Like raising or lowering the front suspension, changes in the rear will directly influence the bike's geometry... stability at speed and during braking, center of gravity, swingarm angle, cornering behavior, etc., will all be influenced.
