Rear Tooth sprocket question. Why are some guys going up 4 teeth

Makes no sense to try to drag race a 200 hp Duc

Tons of Busa’s ZX14 300 400 500 at the tire. Zuk n Kawi been king of 1/4 mile since before there even was such a thing as a 1000cc bike. If it weren’t for those 2 going at it all those years bikes woulda never got as crazy as they are today

That guy IB shows up for AMA 60” class or pro street he is in for a rude awakening : )

Why do you think there are no drag strips in Italy...

I have been using this site for a few years: Gearing Commander - Motorcycle Speed and Drive Train Calculator v7

My experience is that a 44t rear would be a bit too much for highway or high speed use. 15/ 42 is the V4R size.

Sprocket Center order for my 2019:

520 Conversion Kit - Quick Change Sprocket Set with Your Choice of X'ring Chain - DUCATI Panigle V4 / V4S / V4R
SELECT YOUR DUCATI V4 MODEL
1103 V4 / V4S
SELECT SPROCKET CARRIER COLOR
GOLD Carrier w/ TITANIUM Studs & Standard STEEL Nuts
SELECT FRONT SPROCKET SIZE
15 Tooth - STOCK SIZE (998V4R models)
SELECT REAR SPROCKET SIZE
42 Tooth - Hard Anodized Aluminum - - STOCK SIZE (V4R models) - $8.00

I haven’t played with a R but gotta believe it revs quicker than base or S with same gearing and same rear tire

Doesn’t it have more compression and lighter reciprocating pieces?

That’s what I based my 15/43 starting point on for base or S

You don’t take 5mm stroke away from a motor and it magically makes more hp

That’s not how it works

To make up for the loss of displacement the R got Ti rods, a lightened crank, and Ti intake valves. I am sure of that

They may have removed weight from the flywheel too? Dunno...

And larger intake tract, different pistons with single compression ring, 56mm vs 52mm fuel injectors, lightened alternator flywheel.....

I believe Injectors are rated by pounds per hour or cc’s per minute but all this is besides the point. I suggested 15/43 as a starting point for a S cuz the R engine that is quicker reving to start with has 15/42 stock

Yeah R revs higher. It hits the limiter at 16k in 1st-5th gear. Ducati admits setting this limit higher than they wanted to for when sanctioning bodies impose and take rpm

Where does S hit limiter?

*seemed like the one I rode reved to the moon
