Wanted to share.... Spent Sat/Sun with TrackXperience at Chuckwalla then stayed for Monday with Rickdiculous, never having ridden with them before. Wow...what an experience!

They were doing Mon/Tues/Wed...I signed up for Monday ride-only. At the rider's meeting I looked around...Ken Hill, Shane Turpin, Phil Horowitz, Scott Russell, Daytona Anderson, Jason Uribe...all super nice and imminently approachable! Was out riding and kicked a leg out to come off...3 riders passed by. A few minutes later in the pits, Shane come up and asked if he could give me some pointers...hell yea! (he said sometimes guys are dicks apparently and don't want anyone telling them anything). He said he and Scott Russell were following me (!!) and he sat me down for some pointers on lines and braking then had me go out and follow him...we traded off a few times. In that 15" I learned more than in a season of track days. We were sitting afterwards and I asked about trail braking into the carousel...he looked up and said, "Well, let's ask the World Champ." And so Russell sat down with us and gave me his thoughts as well.

I was blown away. Spendy, yes...but I'm signing up for them in February without reservation! Full day of coaching...just awesome!

Anyone else attended their days? I was in heaven!

That sounds amazing Mat.. I'd love to have that experience. I'd say it was worth every penny lol... I'll have to look into that track org..

Dude, that sounds fu$kin awesome! Your really lucky to have been in the right place at the right time!

That's pretty awesome.
I'm usually hesitant when instructors want to follow, but in the end I always get helpful feedback. From those dudes, though? I'm psyched you took full advantage.

There are 2 things that made the biggest difference in my racing.

1. When I made the realization that racing was a sport like any other, and it needed to be trained for accordingly. I used to be big into weightlifting and when I started racing I was at 235lbs. I could bench press the motorcycle, but couldn't ride it for 10 laps at speed.

2. Proper instruction. Having JD40 as a riding coach and then being a part of the Speed Academy Staff for all those years made a huge difference.

One of my favorite sayings is "I don't know what I don't know". You (read: anybody) can ride around for years and years and will make small improvements as you figure things out. But you don't know what you don't know. An experienced set of eyes can make immediately improvements in your riding, something that might have taken you years to figure out.

Agreed . Best thing for me is coaching with coaching my riding improved dramatically and I was more relaxed on the bike going faster but more control and not beating myself up trying too hard .
With that is time on the bike nothing like just doing laps . Did a coaching day with Garry Mcoy was great spending a day with a guy with that pedigree .

100%. I did a track day last year and a young ASBK rider called Glenn SCOTT followed me for a couple of laps and gave me a few tips. Just being in the correct gear at a particular corner picked up a second for me and actually made it easier to negotiate a series of corners. I am still as slow as a wet week but he made me a day faster.

Did more with a few tips than all the Ti I have put into the bike. :)

Thanks for the heads up. This is what I need. Despite my age, I think I can still learn something. February is a good time to get the bike out but it is a long and spendy way from where I am (not quite as far as you but far).

Hey Sup:

Just reserved for February with Ken...he says they're filling up pretty quick...they only have like 10 students per day...crazy- You get personalized coaching and filming....

Hmm, I am tempted. Can you use your own bike? Also what is the deal with the car?

Oh yea, I rode the R. They have rentals if a person wants one though. The car's a little odd...after the rider's meeting they take students out on the track in a couple cars...not sure if it's to learn the track or just another way to learn corner entry/exit as I didn't do it...but then after that track's open, so plenty of riding....

If it's the same concept as when they do that at the YCRS schools, it's a way to show everyone at once exactly what some of your inputs are doing in relation to corner entry/exit.

I've been in 15 passenger van rides with Nick and Ken, it's actually a very eye opening experience and not just from damn near flipping the things.

MMC - thanks!

Do they give a discount if you ride your own whip? Also, what days are you doing next? Maybe I can swing a Feb date :)

I met Ken Hill myself and did some group class time with him at Thunderhill on 11/2 & 11/3. I didn't get to ride with him but his class sessions were very informative and it was great talking to him. After that I'm looking to do some full riding classes with him also in the future.

Came here to echo your thoughts about Ken Hill and the Rickdiculous crew. I've spent 6 days riding with Ken at YCRS and learned more in those cumulative days than years on the track. It's can be very pricey, but when you compare the lessons learned there to the cost of a simple lowside due to easily fixable position errors, the cost quickly becomes justified.
