Hey all great forum I must say :)

Well now my question

I am collecting my 1199S in 3 weeks and I have a problem I am short as hell only 168CM so I would like to lower the bike, I don ´t have a problem not reaching the ground but the bike is going to live with me down on the French Riveria and the roads are crap and also lots of traffic so stop and go the hole time.

I don ´t want to destroy the bike so what is my options? :D

I think that equates to 5'6" in English Units. I wouldn't get the comfort seat. Most sportbikes are tall. Maybe KTM RC8 has lower seath height?

Chris

platform boots? :D seriously though. if you anything less than a 29" inseam your gonna be suckin in stop and go traffic

get a different bike lol...but seriously, lowering this bike would be a sin !!!!

Bike's skinny so that helps, but if you try it stock and feel you need more, you have a bit of room to play with by lowering the rear ride height via the shock length adjustment, and matching at the front by raising the tubes in the clamps an equal amount. I'd recommend going that route before you start changing parts.

I'm 5'6" and find the Panny just fine.

Don't go for the comfort / race seat as it adds 20mm to the seat height.

I'm 5'3" and can only put one foot down and that's on my toes!

This is definitely not a low seat height bike!

Thanks for you input,

How much can it be lowered by the adjusting the shocks?

The KTM is not an option for me I only have one option :)

The other option is that i just skip riding it in traffic ;)

Just did some measuring now and I took a book that was 5.1 inches wide and then I got my inseam to be 30.3 inches. Well on my toes but in a way that I would feel good with.

I'm 5'6" with a 29" inseam. I have the comfort seat and it is okay. I'm careful, but then again in over 30+ years of riding, I've never had a bike that I could come close to flat footing and began riding dirtbikes a couple of years ago. The Pani seat is low compared to the 36" seat height of my dirtbike.

I have the same bike and i am 5'6" also
My dealer adj ride height on day one for me by raising forks in clamps 5mm and moving ride height adjuster 10mm
Result perfect height with stock seat
I have been on track with bike and no change in rake/trail or handling on entry or exit of turns

Thank you so much so all you replays, This is good news for me and I also went to the Ducati store and it was good height for me maybe down 10mm but that is all :)

If they adjusted it on day one, how do you know it didn't change handling?

Fair question
For me it's by comparison to my prior bikes with stock suspension setups and no lowering
I tracked a 2008 Honda 600 cbr, 2009 848 for approx 2 years and 1198sp last year at the same track here in Southern California(Fontana) as the new 1199
The 600 was always very easy to handle and tracked turns predictably
848 also turned fairly easily and never ran wide on exit under power
1198sp was a ..... to turn period and always wanted to run wide on exits under power
1199 lowered as I described carves turns on any line you choose with no understeer at all on exit under power
