The wheel speed sensors and pickups look the same. Ducati talks of a 6 axis IMU. Im guessing and its only a guess that the harness is the same. I Looked as closely as I could at all the stuff no one was interested in like connectors, sensors etc and did not see anything out of the ordinary so i assume if you wanted to buy the ECU and IMU, you could get the package. Someone posted that there was a multi mapping function as well. There may be some wiring for this so an IMU/ECU swap might not work. I guess you will know as time passes and part # start showing up. I'm sure there is some way with enough $$ to get the new stuff to work.

I was told owners would also get the opportunity to ride a WSBK-spec Pani while at the track as well.

LOL. That's what a lot of people who put deposits on the SL think their getting. Swear to capitalism there was a guy at the Long Beach Show who was telling his friend that it's the exact same bike Ducati teams race in WSBK and that that's what the Ducati rep told him.

Now that's a funny one. :D

Sadly i will never be able to join this elite group of SL owners due to monetary constraints :) but I'm happy for you guys/girls who are able to afford one of these beauty and hopefully it wont die on you like my cheap imitation does :)

I have set up a few SLs and many Rs, base models and S models. I can tell you from personal experience that the SL shifted differently and felt a little different. It is hard to explain but there were differences that made the SL shift faster and more precisely than my 2013 R and 2016 R.

@briese, the road legal exhaust on the SL at the show is the same as the 2015-2016 Panigale R, not the same as any other model. It is a titanium Akrapovic header with steel outlets, for durability, and a road legal titanium silencer. The aftermarket Akrapovic slip-ons weigh only 1 pound less but obviously flow better and come with an appropriate UP-MAP. The header is 2 pounds heavier than the aftermarket full titanium Akrapovic exhaust due to the exup valve and steel outlets. The new SL will be delivered with a complete second exhaust; the one pictured in all the photos we have all seen. The bike at the Long Beach show was put together just for the show and was sorta last minute.

Deposit paid delivery August, I see a lot of negativity, well one guy is getting all bent up, but for me that the best bike I have seen, I like the tail exhaust, colour, wheels, price well I dont want anything else and dont want to replace the 1199 do I guess I have to pay it if I want it, I thought hard about a R1M or the Carbon HP4 but I know I would be always disappointed having the chance and not taking it as tomorrow who knows!

@farmind, did you get a call for the second 8K deposit? If so, when did you give your original 8K deposit? I ordered mine the day of the announcement (2-3 weeks ago) and I signed a contract with Ducati NA and paid my 8K deposit. I was informed that a second deposit would be required for the same amount and Ducati SpA would contact me to collect that. At that point in time I would be fully committed. The contract specifically says there is no specific delivery date. So how were you informed your bike would be delivered in August (2017)? When did you place your initial deposit?

Thanks,

-B

Made my deposit as well.
Track is Monza, will also (supposed) get to ride one of the pro bikes as part of the buying experience.

wow that would be awesome, for me getting a track day and getting to cane a pro bike would be worth $6k.

I wonder what they mean by pro bike.
