I didn't say Rossi can beat Marquez! But I think Rossi can still compete with Pedrobot, Lorenzo, etc. on any given weekend. And if he gets a good start, he can give Marquez a little battle before Marquez gets by and then runs off with the win.

Those Hondas are really giving it to Yamaha. It's pretty sad that at the top it really is only between 2 manufacturers and 4 bikes. I really much prefer WSBK because of the diversity of manufacturers and riders, and STK 1000 because it really is close to what I have in my garage.

It was a great race, the KID is just riding at a different level than everyone else, his falling back into the pack and "racing" with everyone before dropping the hammer is exactly what Roberts used to do.
Crazy Joe will be the one to carry Ducati forward, he was the only one that had anything for Marquez back in Moto 2, when he was having a good day.

rossi will be 4th (aka last) for the rest of the year as long as there are no crashes if everybody runs start to finish rossi will finsh 4th or worse.

i know you didnt say he could beat him i was just making the point that MM was 7th at one point just like rossi was

When people say "Rossi is back" it simply means he is able to compete for podiums again (something he hasn't really been able to do in the last few seasons). It certainly doesn't mean he will win the championship. Rossi is currently the strongest Yamaha rider.

I agree with your first point, Mark just loves ribbing the Rossi fanboys (I include myself in that group). Lorenzo has had Spies - level bad luck recently but this race showed that he is still the same great double world champ/rider, but that the Yamaha M1 definitely is inferior to the Honda RC213V.

Lorenzo has had a horrible start to the season, but Rossi has had bad luck as well. He was on pace for a podium at COTA until his front tire failed. He was on pace for a podium in Argentina and was pushed wide by Bradl. The main reason why I said Rossi is currently the strongest Yamaha rider is his lap times have been the fastest. After Rossi got back by Bradl, every lap except one was in the 1:39.xx range... he was catching Lorenzo. So for the first 3 races of the season Rossi has one 2nd place finish and had the potential for a podium in the second and third race. I think Rossi will finish ahead of Lorenzo next race at Jerez.

I agree the Honda is the best bike. It has been said the Honda's biggest advantage is during braking (definitely some electronic trickery going on with that CVT-like gearbox). Hopefully Yamaha can make some improvements to bridge the gap.

The on board shots showed how much time MM was making on JLo on corner entries. Hard to parse out how much was the 213V and how much was MM.

We could do some tests to figure out how much is the bike and how much is MM. Let's put him on Dovi's bike for Jerez and see where he ends up.

Honda's biggest advantage is the KID, Pedrosa is a hell of a rider, his problem is Stoner eclipsed him in ability, now Marquez is doing the same. I consider him to be the best of the rest. He will come second in the championship, he is the perfect #2 man for the team.

I was thinking similarly. How about yamaha and Honda switch riders for every other round. Haha. Then we could see the difference the bike's make.

best yamaha rider are you remotely serious with this. rossi is second to JLO period. which means at best 4th total. not even a question. yes jlo has had 2 bad luck things happen oh well thats racing but looks to be sorted out after last race.

he came in second last year with more victories than MM (8-6 first place finishes). he was the world champ the year before. rossi finished second in the first race now as he did last year and all of a sudden he is the best rider? how can you remotely think rossi is the best yamaha rider. you must have 46 painted on your house to think this.

rumor is stoner will be back in 2015 all the contracts are up can you imagine stoner marquez team . rossi would have to retire. or relegate himself to 5th.

will it matter what he places at 35 he may go undefeated this year. he has 12 poles in 22 races. 20 podiums in 22 races you are watching the michael jordan of racing right now. clearly better than the rest.

Rossi is currently the strongest rider on the M1. Last year Rossi struggled with braking on the M1, Yamaha resolved that issue during the off-season. This year Lorenzo is struggling with the 2014 tires and Rossi's pace is currently quicker than Lorenzo's. Again, I expect Rossi to finish ahead of Lorenzo at Jerez.

I do hope Stoner comes back. Crutchlow, Hayden and Aoyama need somebody else to rub elbows with.
