Hi guys I’m wanting to replace my tyres on the 1299, I’m on Pirelli Rosso 3’s
Is there a better option for an old fart who does not track?
my bike is the base and I am a very intermediate rider looking for the most road grip and sometimes in the wet
Advise appreciated

Just get the Rosso 4's and be done with it. I have them on my 1199, plenty of grip for twisty roads and they seem to be wearing well, 3k on the set so far and the rear tire hasn't even squared off yet.

based on your comments, you should be good with the Rosso 3's or 4's.
i run corsa 2's, and for my type of riding i wouldnt consider anything different. Although i dont go out if the ground is wet! I get 2000-2500 on a set.

Anyone getting over 3K miles i cant relate to at all haha
I ran the 3's once and found them woefully inadequate and slide all over the place.

It will be the second time I’m replacing them, I have only had Rosso tyres was just wondering if the other brands are any good?

Hi @Captain Greg. I'll share my experience ... but you should also know I have not tried every tyre on the market, so I am biased in that respect.

I've always run Supercorsa's on my 1199, and previously Michelin Power 3's on my 675 Daytona. The latter are now marketing Power 5's. I was persuaded to try Michelin Power GP's on the 1199 last year. I'd say they're marginally better on cooler roads, and appear to warm up quicker. The Power GP's definitely last longer than the Supercorsa's. I ride on twisty public roads in Scotland. I'm not the sort of rider that can tell instantly if a tyre is better or worse than the other brands. I need to experience all the road conditions and weathers before I truly understand what I'm dealing with.

The 2 best tires you can run are the latest super corsas. I prefer the Q series, and have had luck with all them over the last decade.

The Q 4 I was able to push the hardest and they held up great on street and track. The Q5 is even supposed to be better.

I would not put a harder tire on our bikes. On the multistrada we have had great luck with the road 5s at a fast clip, but id never run them on the Panigale

I've had Dunlop Q3's, then Rosso III', and now Rosso Corsa's. I'd rate them in that order. I ride daily (1199) and am getting great life out of the RCs. They're predictable and have great traction at lean. The Q3's were awful, but I couldn't say how old they were as they came with the bike. The Rosso IIIs we're good, but until I went RCs I didn't realise there was better.

I have stayed with Rosso lll got a good price and I think it’s more rubber than 60% of my riding ability or put it like this I do not have the talents to find the Rosso limit

Any of the Rosso Pirelli's will suit you;
but if you want the best for the wet on the road it's the Michelin Road 5's..
