Reading the service manual i have discovered checking valves can be done in the bike. Its pretty easy.

If the valves are out of spec then the cylinder heads have to be taken off to adjust. To get the cylinder heads off you have to remove the engine from the bike. LOL. Not sure why they designed the bike this way. But it is what it is. Im sure they have their reasons.

I see why they charge so much. Makes sense. Id charge 1300 bucks too if I had to remove an engine.

If it needs and adjustment its going to the dealership. No way id attempt this. To many needed tools. They have a special stand for the engine. Fits right into it. Im sure thats pricey. Plus all the other tools you need. Its suicide to attempt without the tools.

With most bikes the valves can be adjusted with the motor in the bike.

This is different. Oh well.

Time to forget about the expense and enjoy the bike. If I keep this bike im paying it. I feel for the tech that has to do it. hahahah

My Service Manual has the camshaft removal with engine on (rear subframe lifted), but it points to a missing paragraph "Removal of the valves" for eventual shim adjustment.
There should be no need to remove the valves to adjust the shims.

I just talked with the dealer and he says they do it without taking motor out.

I guess u dont need to take out valves. Service manual is misleading.
