If Shinko made tyres that fitted the 1199..like Ravens for instance.. we all know they would be waaay cheaper than the SuperCorsas and probably last much longer too... so ... would you buy them??

I only know of a couple of guys who have used Shinkos and they have been happy with them...

i only know STINKO and that's the nickname of my dog.

no tires without proper reputation for the panigale...

Lol.... 'proper reputation" ??? Can you define that?? I am sure Toyota or Nissan were joke brands many yrs ago.. :)

Sure, I would buy a set"¦ to set afire in a drum at the track camp ground in the eve. Hey, we have to stay warm right?

They seriously make burn out tires which have different color smoke options. Can't take them seriously...

well by that i mean with a proven track record for high performance motorcycles in several racing series...
at a certain level it is about the big brands. conti, bridgestone, michelin, dunlop and pirelli.

but OTHOH, i am open to be convinced :D

Fair comment..but I wonder if there isn't an inbuilt prejudice against certain brands based on preconceived ideas and not facts... So..in theory if a team in Wsbk/MotoGp started using Shinkos would that open your mind to the idea??

I know car tyres are a different animal..but many people now use Nittos on their cars and that's not exactly an everyday brand..to me at least.. but they seem happy with them.. See my point?? or no...lol

I have no experience with Shinko, but people used to sneer at my race/track day selections, too (Hankook, Toyo, Sumitomo, Nitto). Once they were lapped the sneers stopped. And now, of course, at least two of those vendors have a lot of respect.

On a bike, however, tires are far more important to life, limb and fairing. Someone else would have to be the experimental rat before I'd ever spoon on a set of unknowns....

Anti.. I totally understand... but at least you see my point that what appears to be a crappy brand may actually not be... But who's gonna be the first to try??? I am not advocating this brand but I am curious..

I'd have no issues with trying a set if they were given some good reviews by a number of consumer M/C pubs.
I'm sure there's pressure on testers to return "not unfavorable" reviews in order to avoid negative impact on advertising revenue. But go through a number of reviews and you start winnowing out the hype and get to the core.
Price is generally not a consideration (or at least far down the list) when I'm deciding on tires to use. For me to try a set would mean they would need to be in the same general ballpark performance-wise as my most favored (i.e. Michelin and Dunlop). And "performance-wise" is a malleable term depending on what bike I'm considering to put them on.

what i was trying to say is that on any vehicle, the tire is the first and best option for improvement. your life depends on two hand sized patches of contact to the road. so implying, the bike being equipped with the best that can be (in our case the only recommended Supercorsas), there is little room to get better.

i am in for experimenting, look here:

but just because it is another very good option.

about shinko? i don't know.

on my '75 benz i ride on low $50 tires, because they're enough for the purpose.

-- Power-1's or Power-Cups ? ---- 190's only right ? - what sizes did you fit ? -- or is that the new Pilot Power Super Sport (which replaces the Power-1 street tire) ?

Well I appreciate Ducai giving me their recommendations on the Pirelli's. But I'm not a fan and, once the Supercorsas are gone, intend to replace with the Dunlop Q2. I'm hoping Mich makes a 200 Power3 to try (or I may just throw on a 190 for my own "experimenting").

-- hard to beat the michelin power-1 -will be replaced by pilot power super sport for 2013 - should be a great tire - i spoke with MotoRace in New Hampshire, a long time michelin importer....they do not see the 200 size on the Michelin Product availability sheet - a 190 will be the only choice - what profile would you use 50 or 55 ?

A 55 most likely. A slightly taller profile will help to minimize any changes to steering geometry moving from a 200 to a 190. Datasheet from Michelin and Pirelli would be useful for comparing the profiles.

The right set of cups is 414$ shipped. I'm on my third set, posted about them previously.

120/70-200/55
