Threw them side by side in Photoshop to see how much the bike changed visually. Figured you guys would like to see as well.
At this point I really think we've just been photos taken at bad angles (not only referring to the spy shots). One of things where pictures don't do it justice.
It's growing on me. Make the tank a wee bit shorter and put a carbon cover on that frame and I'd be all set.

Regardless, I'm broke, so I'll be riding the 1199 until the wheels fall off.

I don't find the new one repulsive, I think it will be an interesting platform to develop.

If looks were everything I'd still be single :)

This.

Great platform that will get better and better as time goes on. No desire to jump on one now, but in 3-4 years, definitely!

Just saw that they teamed with Rizoma for some of the accessories as well.

Shouldn't be judging everything by its appearance, but it looks like an inbred ....... child. There's got to be something beautiful underneath that surface.

the front end looks cleaner without the two gill slits. the left side also looks cleaner as it does away with that clunky rear shock setup. swingarm is beefy looking but still not as artful as the mv's.

i think the one thing that will be universally agreed upon is the dislike of the two piece tank and how the fairing blends into it. plus it's really wide looking.

just wait till you see it.

I think the truth is that only those with a trained eye for Ducatis will even know they are different.

But she’d immediately notice the difference in the bank account.

Trade in + same color + same monthly payments = PV4 :D

But my 1299 is worth nothing to a dealer now and I still love it so I'm OK. I'm happily committed to it for a while. Honestly the Scrambler 1100 and Multi 1260 are the bikes trying to get me into trouble...

The fuel tank on V4 doesn't look fluid.. 1299 shape seems more streamlined even down to the exhaust lines.. I do love Led front and rear lights on the V4. Over all 1299 looks much better.

I really like the looks of my 1299, but the side by side of both, by the pictures, I like the looks of both equally well.

I really want to like the v4 but The predecessor wins in the looks department hands down.
Wife agrees by the way, only she couldn't tell which one was the latest

I am glad they did not succumb to the latest fashion trend and put the exhaust under the tail. Keeping the weight low as per the original 1199 design is the way to go IMHO.

Moving on from my initial plan of a V4S, and as I have already stripped and rebuilt an 1199 and 1299 to colour match both the frame and swingarm, this bike looks a doddle to change out the frame colour and maybe alleviate it's prominence to the eye, this time colour matching to the swingarm as opposed to the magnesium castings as on my xx99 bikes. Also shortened the number plate holder. Doubtless there will be some version available soon. Still no word on the price of the Akra system. Any ideas JarelJ ?

Can Jarel please answer this. There appears to be quite a difference in the Akra system fitted to the Speciale and to the S model. Take a look at the much slimmer less bulbous exhaust shield on it as opposed to the S model and also the different belly pan. Why is this or have they just fitted slip ons to this S which might explain why it retains the stock heat shield.

Pic of the Akra system. It seems there is a Race version according to MR. This is the version for the S and Base models. This might explain the heat shield difference. Also a lot more room by the rear wheel due to different routeing of the pipes. On the Race version the front header pipes (it seems) are routed directly to the LH silencer . Wonder if this means the Race version is only available with the Speciale?

You can see here the less cluttered Race system and neater smaller heat shield.
