Side Stand Lean

Just picked up a 24’ V4S. Still stock on preloads, notice bike is leaned over considerably more on the side stand than previous V2. Is this a V4 thing, or should I give everything a little time for the suspension to settle in and loosen up and revisit later. As it stands now almost ready to get one of those side stand foot enlargers that reduce angle a bit

Yes, its normal and a bad compromise Ducati made in stability vs esthetics, or possibly aerodynamics. The length and angle of the side stand is compromised to fit into the “hole” allowed for it. It is indeed too short and leaves the bike too leaned over putting excess load onto a relatively tiny point of contact. If the bike itself were 2-3” lower it would work better. Maybe Ducati engineering just forgot the true ride height or made a stupid design mistake?

sure feels like a design mistake, but so far the only downside is that it took me a while to get used to. I'm not using the sidestand much and definitely not on spongy ground.

Lean is lessened if you turn the bars full right. It’s improved when sag is set properly (static 25-30 mm front, 10-15 mm rear; rider 42 and 30 mm respectively). Also double check the stand bolt torque at 600 mi. Mine was a tad loose.

That being said, be mindful of parking the bike on poorly laid bitumen on warm summer days. The stand can dig in and bike can tip over.

Yup, side stand plate is going to be in a pocket to add a little height and support area.

Always looking for the right section of ground when parking mine especially when the rack is on the back doing a road trip. Real pain in the backside. Sometime I'll add a small section to the bottom that would still fit within the arka belly fairing. Any little bit would help.
