My teammate-/sponsor's bike after QP1... And now I'm abolutley terrified...

When exiting the "hairpin" on the throttle, the bike just locked up and spun him around. It tumbled around and came to a stop at the track in a pool of it's own oil...

When it came back to the trailer we found that the connecting rod on the front cylinder had decided to give up and poke itself out of the engine casing/cylinder wall. The whole engine is basically metal scrap... The bike has seen about 1200 miles on the stree, and under 1000 miles on the track... And no warranty on track bikes... *geez*

Now I'm terrified that our bike will do the same...

what was the Rev limit?

FYI before the 1st ecu update stock rev limit was like 11,900, after the 1st reflash ducati drop the limiter down too 11,300rpm (i believe)

from what i told the higher rev limit can do some damage to the rods

Damn, sorry to hear that. Please keep us up to date on the analysis of the cause.

That is some serious damage! I hope that your teammate is ok!

Threw a rod... where have I heard that before?

So, what aftermarket rods are available? Or should we try to find "R" rods? What needs to be replaced to prevent this...?

Carrillo or Pankl. Carrillos a little heavier, but strong as hell. Pankl are pricey. From my research, Carrillos are bullet proof.

Heavier than stock, or heavier than Pankl?

On Prankl's website, I can not find any rods for the Pani...

There is a guy on eBay selling Pankl rods for the Panigale. Probably OEM stuff getting sold out of the back door. (just guessing)

"And no warranty on track bikes... *geez*"

Until this post who knows if this is a track bike? I'm just saying:D

have any of the ti R rods been documented as failing like this ¿ ¿ ¿

sorry about your troubles Macke....

Oh, the troubles are not MINE... Yet at least... This was my teammate/sponsor's bike... Mine is OK so far... :)

You mean know warranty on "race" bikes.

Track- or racebike, doesn't matter really...

It's hard to roll up to a dealer with a bike with race fairings, race suspension, race exhaust, race ECU, datalogger, safety wired bolts, race clipons, race rearsets, inverted shift pattern, aftermarket QS, tank foam, slicks, modified drivetrain, etc. And say it's never seen the track... :D

Think any warranty claim is off the table...

Macke, not true. My dealership knows I track my bike only. they did all of my safety wiring. As a matter of fact, I just got the bike back from them last week and while it was there, the ABS was throwing a hard error. they replaced the ABS module ($2500) under warranty. BUT, my tech said to me, after I start racing, all bets are off and the warrant y is done.
