Solving The Vibration Issue

Ducati Forum

The vibration we feel is mostly secondary vibration which occurs at twice engine speed. The L twin has perfect primary balance.

It's the strongest secondary vibs I have ever felt on a cycle. It's a good thing I really like this bike otherwise...lol

This is exactly what I did. Added weight to the stock bar ends.

IMO by adding weight in the bars your simply changing the harmonic, your not removing the vibration.
The problem with this is that you now move the frequency spectrum and place this vibration elsewhere, this could damage something else?
Like maybe the instrument cluster mount or some other components

Vibrations are complex things to isolate

Perhaps, but where ever the vibration may be displaced, I am not holding on to it, and it's not making my hands hurt.

This is correct, you just move them. I don't mind vibration at certain RPMs. Just don't want them at the cruising speed, so I try to move them to higher RPMs.

I had machine shop drilled those and tap them. Ordered some brass material from McMaster Carr and have those made as well.

I was looking to do the same thing with my stock bar ends. I just haven't found the right machine shop. Drill and tap an M10 hole, buy a long ass bolt and tighten. I'll have more torque to "tune out" the vibes over my current M6 set up.

I had vibrations that made my right wrist tingle and after even just 30Km it was quite uncomfortable
I removed the OEM bar ends and replaced with light weigh aluminium ones ( I wanted the red anodizing)

During this time I also removed the flapper valve and spring assembly from the exhaust pipe.

Now I find I get no tingle and the bike is much better I am not sure what made the improvement? the light bar ends or the removal of the flap assembly.

Just thought I would share this fwiw

I had a ZX10 with really bad grip vibrations, really high frequency ones that made my hands tingle. I took the end cap off the bars, filled them with silicon gel that you use in bath and kitchen applications and as it dried I inserted some long bolts into the gel. It dampened the vibrations quite well. No more tingly hands.
