Some track day prep questions

I concentrated on getting my elbows out and trying to get my hands in the right position on the grips and that helped. Also concentrating on getting my knee out so my heel is in against the bike helped as well. The final thing that helps is keeping my vision ahead through the turn.

A bit of progress in the first session.

Times are coming down again and it’s starting to feel better again. I need to really exaggerate the arm and hand position. The more relaxed my arms are the more confident I feel carrying some speed into the turn.… Funny that…

Another two seconds quicker. Still three seconds worse than I have done before, but consistent times in this session and I’m getting the feeling back and confidence is returning.

Surprising how fast a bike will turn without too much input from the pesky human onboard. Relax and don't overthink it. I'm so old and feeble I barely hold onto the bars anymore. If I'm heeled in in a corner with nasty, choppy pavement I essentially let go. I'm only guiding the bars. Don't worry you'll get your MOJO back.

Thanks. It was coming back today. I think being further off the bike didn’t feel comfortable and so I was holding the bars. Relaxing my arms helped significantly. My bike is never the problem…

Brno again next week. I think it is a better track to focus on the things I need to work on.

Enjoy hearing your progression play-by-play….some aspects are what I have experienced over the past 18 months of my “faster” progression.

Getting my head lower has a magnified sense of speed which has my fear meter creep up…once I got used to a little fear in my least comfortable corners lap times bleed seconds. If your basics are sound trust yourself, be a little uncomfortable, and the progression will continue. 🤙

America. Back to back world war champs. I think George W. should have taken over the english fleet and invaded england viking style. That would be Washington not G.W.

ive got whiskey with more history than America....( thats proper stuff, not that bourbon imitation!)

I think that’s exactly what it is. Then the vision narrows, then you’re fixated on the apex, then you’re more aware of the speed and proximity to the ground… Keeping focused on the basics helps enormously.
