There was a football game on campus. There should be no parking space for a car and I brought Panigale.

I was working on my thesis and came out from the office. As soon as I say my Panigale...I couldn't think anything...WTF...

I checked around and lots of scratches, thankfully, other parts including fuel tank were fine. Side mirror, clutch case, under fairing, and handle bar end got damaged. When I turned on, the gear was in 4th... Definitely, someone tried on and changed gear, then fell down.

So many dumb kids are around, especially during the football season. But it's not cool at all.

Be careful, guys. If you are going to a place where crazy kids are seeking for a toy, you'd better to keep your motorcycle in a safer place..

Sorry to hear this. I would be furious but what can you do. Sucks that people just can't respect other people's stuff... Hope bad karma comes back on them swiftly.

Sorry to hear this but unfortunately there are ar*eholes everywhere, not just kids.
A few years back, one of my old HS buddies was on his L's and out of nowhere told me how he and his 'other' mates saw this cool R1 one day parked outside work, so they decided to sit on it and take a photo because it looked so badass.... he laughed after that in a childish way..... he wouldve been about 27 then.... I didn't fully tell him off but did express my displeasure in a pretty firm way.
Some people just think bikes are not like cars. Since there's no door and that the seat is fully open, it gives them a right to just try it. After all they're not gonna turn it on or steal it, they're just trying it on, which is fine to them.
Knowing this, there really isn't much we can do. Parking in more open public spaces where alot of people walk by would help because these ar*eholes don't wanna look like thieves in front of people.
The sad thing for us is owning a Ducati just means our paranoia is worse than others (mine has amplified since coming from Ninja's for sure lol)
Hope the damage ain't too bad ($) and you get the baby looking back to how she should ;)

So many times i parked my bike at public places whether I'd be in hospital, shopping, or what ever 3 out of 10 I would return to see someone sitting on my bike ....... around :(

Lucky I'm a non violent guy i would have ended up in jail so many times.

I'm so sorry for you hope the insurance will get you back on the road soon.

Check the underside of your exhaust too! Someone wiped mine out and it scratched the underside too!!

Damn , so sorry to hear this. I'm always paranoid about being somewhere that I can't keep an eye out on my bike.

Sucks. Similar thing happened to me a while back, only it was a car that knocked mine over. Check the tab on your steering lock to see if it's still there. Don't want one of your hands getting pinned to the tank the first time you go to lock.

You're looking at several thousand dollars worth of damage if you report it to your insurance company. Or you could probably get everything fixed by scouring ebay and the classifieds for substantially less.

BTW: Grad school + Panigale = Nice!

Yup, I succumbed to getting a beater bike for those longer unattended stops and high risk areas. It helps me feel less anxious while I have to be away from my bike. Nonetheless, whether its a $100 dollar bike or a $35K exotic beast, I don't have any problem telling people to keep hands off my property. With permission of course, I've got no problem with touching...not to much tho :^)

this is why there are only 2 places you can take your bike to. Track or starbucks (where either you are riding or looking at your bike from close).
So many dumb a$$ ppl out there who has no respect for other ppl's property.

There is no way I could park mine somewhere in public and expect to get any work done. The stress would kill me.

At work I park it where I can see it at all times.

Explaining to my bank representative:

Bank ....: "How do you like your new bike?"

Me: "I love it, it's literally parked right next to my desk right now."

Bank ....: "Oh that's nice so you can see it outside your window?"

Me: "No, you don't understand, it is LITERALLY parked right next to my desk."

Haha.

An idea

How about taking a cover with you if you ride with a back pack. At least that way they wont know whether it is a new super bike or an old beater. Also a disc alarm is a good idea if you need to leave your bike somewhere less risky. There are places I would never take my bike like going to the movies but if I need to visit the mall or am marshalling at the track I will make my bike as safe as I can. I also take a long cable to lock my helmet and jacket to the bike.

When I checked the underside, it looked fine except the under panel. Footpeg and the brake were ok too.
Thanks!

Thanks!

Before: Grad school + Panigale = Nice!

Now: Grad school + Panigale + Scratches = Not good...
