just as a question

why did you go for the S

Instead of the bese ?

Oh I did worse than that, I bought a numbered V4 25 Anniversario 916 and did all this too it lol

the build just sort of evolved, I was pretty new to all this when I bought the bike, no idea at the time that I’d eventually rebuild the whole thing or start tracking it.

but the 25 Anniversario 916 is a through back toold school Ducati racing so it’s only right that it be tracked haha

For a street bike you will never tell the difference between abs active or deleted. Never.
I presume this is in the context of using a streetbike on track? Never had ABS interfere on track, rear is disabled and I guess I dont push hard enough to activate the front even trail braking deep! I presume ABS delete is about getting a more direct feel and response.

I think most guys think they need ABS deletes to gain brake feel. On the street you will never be at a level where it matters. For the street where you're more than likely going to encounter an emergency braking situation it only makes sense to have it.

Agreed. I misunderstood Tom’s statement regarding feeling ABS activation on the street - you’re not (or shouldn’t be) riding at that level in the street, but it certainly might activate under adverse road conditions.

The only time I've felt it interacting was when I was chasing a very fast rider, he passed a back marker into a third gear entry corner, and I'd decided I was following him, come what may. The back marker braked way later than I was expecting, braking from approx 140mph, I went up the inside, eyes on stalks, bike twitching, my body tensing up, hard on the brakes and rocketing towards the gravel. I was def going off the track, highly likely on my ass, I was leaning the bike, trying to make the corner, still on the brakes, running wide v quickly, and just as I felt the front start to go, peace and tranquility. I felt the pressure at the lever reduce, the retardation dropped slightly, the front end came back to me, and we made it.
The back marker had come back under me, as I'd run wide, but I came back past him on corner exit as I'd now 'squared off' the corner.

The ABS is properly good , just sayin'.

What shop is doing the work?

I usually have the service department at DNB do the work…they had one .... up with me but after that have done good work.

this time I’m going to take it to a place called Cohen Motorsports unless you guys have another shop you recommend in SoCal?

the guy at Cohen is my size and tracks, which is useful to me because he’s much more experienced on track than me and setting up his bikes for a guy our size….and is a good dyno tuner which I’ll need for the Woolich setup.

Steven,
Just want to say, if you've never been on the track with this bike, you're in for a wild treat. It's kind of like discovering the other half of the bike and it's very good stuff.
It takes me to places where I find myself saying things in my helmet like, "this is what life is for..." Oh ya what's the adage, "...everything else is just waiting." (- Steve McQueen)

Can I clarify thoughts about the ABS delete...? I understand that if you are sticking with the std loom wiring ABS and general std electronics on the V4, you cant just delete the ABS like the previous models.

This is because within the electronics set up of the bike all the ABS, wheelie control, traction control, slide control etc are all linked, unless you can tell me things have moved on..

I hasten to add this is not my evidence but I believe the source as he is a very qualified and well respected supplier of aftermarket electronics for Ducati over the years...

Pretty much. You can block off the hydraulic fittings though, and leave the pump and electronics connected.

Rumour on the street is, you can open it all up, remove the weighty motor and replace it with a resistor to save weight.

But, the new ABS is significantly better than anything that has cone before it, or anything else on the market.

from what Mick Boesman Bikesportdevelopments said if you remove it or block it off it effects all the other above. Even to the point of changing the callipers is a no no as this effete the ABS

I have also seen bikes that JHP have converted the front brake lines to the front of the forks 'GPstyle' and they ended up still connected in to the ABS...

With regard to installing the Spark system. Does it remove the std Lamda ie just bung the holes up..

the Spark system has four Wideband O2 sensor inlets, but the Woolich system I’ll use for tuning only uses one, so the other three will be blocked off on my bike.

if you want to run std O2 sensors you can buy wideband to narrow band adapters to screw into the wideband holes
