Speeding Ticket - I Won!

if you can afford speeding you can...

if you can't you can't.

simple, not?

i got a "Son, you were doing better than 70" ticket in NC in a 55, where as i will quote the NC DMV:

<<<There are certain first-time traffic violations that mandate the immediate loss of driving privileges, and some of these include:

Prearranged racing with another vehicle
Speeding over 75 mph
Passing a stopped school bus
Driving more than 15 mph over the speed limit, if you are driving at a speed higher than 55 mph>>>

the cop let me go on but there was no doubt i will get an attorney for this, who wants to collect points and have insurance go up? a call to the lawyer and $380 later i was fine ...

So that validates my moron point. How about slow down if you can't pay the ticket, or have so many you are about to get revoked. There is a new idea. Instead of scamming the system.

No, you are overtaxed and prey'ed upon by your legislators, not the cops. The cops just enforce it and bring it in front of a judge. Vulture legislators started all this, I'd think the riders from Cali would get that by now.

Its not like this came up in just a regular post…he made a specify thread to gloat about it. Come on !…

NOLA.

arent you a cop nola? i believe in one of my posts you said you are. so its easy to be judge and jury when you will never get any kind of ticket anywhere but since you are the law like william wilhelm (yes william wilhelm is his real name much like barry soetoro is you know whos real name) aka maybe bill decommio of NYC, you will give a speech and then procede to be videoed braking all the traffic laws that you just gave a speech on and nothing will happen. if your not a cop well disregard what i said

Just got the word from my traffic attorney that they successfully defended my most recent speeding ticket and I couldn't be happier.

Background:
About a month after getting the Pani I got clocked doing 61 in a 55 on Angeles Crest Highway (note: this enforcement was a result of two rider fatalities on Hwy 2 from the prior month).

After that I spent a lot of money and had a custom installation of a Passport 8550 Plus active radar / jamming unit. Everyone has their view of whether they are worth or not and that has been discussed many times on the board.

Fast forward 10 months I rolling up the Crest, with 'all radar systems on' and what happens? I get lit up by a CHP bike officer doing 75 in a 45 mph and my system never alerted. He shot me with Lidar from above the road and I totally deserved it (how's that for gracious?).

Update:
Not wanting or needing any more tickets I decided to spend a lot of money and fight the ticket. Ultimately I paid an attorney $1,500 to fight the ticket and got a ton of crap from my friends, but it can afford it and didn't want to think about riding the bike neutered.

Found out today I won as the Sate of CA failed to provide the documents requested in the subpoena and the CHP officer didn't show. No regrets and while expensive an awesome outcome!

For those in need it was 866speeding.com

id rather pay a lawyer then pay a money stealing wasting municipality.

on another note i would give the old passport customer service a call and tell them what happened

Congratulations, as a 2 Timer I have decades racing the Crest, the motorcycle death toll on that road is staggering, multiples almost every weekend. The cops get real nasty there as your ticket proves 61 in a 55 is chickenshit. As a rule I always keep it down till I get to Newcombs, 99 percent of the wannabees that go splat up there stop there and get beered up, then head back down the hill. The real race is Newcombs to Wrightwood, rarely have I ever seen any cops on that run until your in Wrightwood proper.
No track day can replicate the thrill of hauling ... on a twisting mountain road with uncertainty around every corner, unless the track is on the Isle of Man.

That last comment about thrill and isle of man reference is about one of the dumbest things i've read on this forum in a long time. Absolutely ridiculous logic. I don't care if the speedy canyon carving thrill gets to be a better feeling than bustin a nut during .... That .... is not worth a ticket and even worse, a potential loss of life. If you're canyon carving, it's supposed to be a fun experience while placing safety as THE main priority. That should never take a backseat to thrill or pushing the limits to figure out what your own limits are. These types of careless acts result in loss of life, tickets by officers who are itchin to write one and can't forget the increase of premiums when looking to get insured.

We are all owners of a lethal weapon between our legs. I'm talking about our Panigale's you sick ...... It is each one of our responsibility to ride well within our limits while respecting the laws that are set in our specific cities/states. If you're the type that likes to show off and live on the edge each time you ride like that ...... one arm bandit, then you have yourself to blame when .... goes wrong. Not if.....when!

I personally can't afford to get any kind of traffic violation since I drive a company car for work n we're required to have a clean record. I drive a 450whp evo. Both my car and my bike are fast as .... but I pussyfoot my car almost all the time and I don't ride recklessly either. It is awful tempting and I always get criticized about it but I don't feed into peer pressure, nor do I feel the need to prove .... to anyone. My safety comes first. Riding is dangerous enough. Last thing I'm going to do is add even more risk. "Hey let's play Russian roulette. Instead of 1 bullet, how about we have 3 to increase the thrill factor?"

Fact: cops are the shittiest, most discourteous, and fast driver on the road.
Fact: tickets do not make the roads safer
Fact: Nola, your statement makes you look like a ............. If you even do own an 1199, and got yourself in the same situation for whatever moving violation you know you'd be crying like a little baby....
Fact: tickets are all about the $$$$$$$$, as if government stealing 20-30% of each paycheck isn't enough.....
Fact: punishing a rider for 6 over because some (probably) .........s who died riding like real ........ is ridiculous...

It is apparent that in California, people driving six over are treated as real maniacs which is a complete joke. California has wayyyy too many pigs if they have the time to be citing for 6 ....... mph over...

Also, from what I understand LIDAR tickets are an easy fight.
I've heard that they do not get "calibrated" or "tuned" like, say, a Stalker Radar unit does.... I'm not 100% positive, but I've heard that without calibration the cops can't win. When it comes to radar, the pigs are supposed to test each unit with tuning forks prior to the start of their shift. (Depending on location).

NOLA I hope your bike is track only to be talking that shyt .... Don't buy a spaceship and just drive it up and down the runway you either fly or remain a ..... ... As soon as you swing a leg over this pony you know what you signed up for ...

Exactly couldn't have said that better myself"¦.:D

Jesus"¦.how many tickets do you have !"¦You don't see that as a bit much ? Once you have your first hospital ride, you will slow your cage down.

I'm "talking shyt" cause I said he needs to be responsible for his actions ??? Just cause you aren't either doesn't make you any better.

Week before last I was in your damm lib-tard state and discovered that Brooklyn has ZERO parking, insane street cleaning rules, hidden yellow curbs, no pay for park, and of course fire hydrants hidden in snow. So when I came out to find a awesome orange and white ticket slid INTO my passenger mirror (The cop didn't even get out his/her car to put it on the window), I PAID IT !"¦Doesn't matter I missed parking near the hydrant cause of the snow. I DID it"¦and sent out my $115.00 to your state govt. Cause I DID IT !"¦.WTF.

NOLA

.... you if you can't express yourself without hurling political slurs. You parked next to a fire hydrant and you're blaming it on NY being a blue state? I guess all that .... is blocking your eyesight. NO doesn't ticket ........ that block a vital public safety asset? And paying tickets without even considering pursuing a perfectly legal defense doesn't make you a "man", it makes you an ......

I sound like a hypocrite saying this but 2 wrongs don't make a right ... Let's be nice to Nola ... You catch more flies with honey then you do with vinegar and although someone's perception may be different then the majority's there's a chance it's due to a life experience or circumstance that occurred ..... If NOLA is a cop then the rules don't apply to him because of the discretion extended to him as a cop which is messed up but that's life.... My cousin takes red lights like a .... because he's a cop I can't tell him what to do so fukem I don't get in his car ..... The change needs to start from higher up then it will change for good....

Wheres the OP?? I am sure this thread hasn't gone the way he expected.....

And there you exactly explain my point.

"paying tickets without even considering pursuing a perfectly legal defense"

Why would I pursue a legal defense"¦I DID IT !"¦WTF"¦At what point do people admit doing dumb .... ?

Did I hit a nerve with the lib-tard thing Honolulu ?"¦lol

NOLA you honestly could of won that ticket dispute if you didn't see the firehydrant because of the snow .... And because its a day like that which closed down schools the odds are on your side..... You can't be easy on people if your not easy on your self lol ....

If I had a job that involved scraping people off the pavement, guardrails, cars, etc. "multiple times" every weekend, no doubt I'd probably start taking a hard line on traffic offenders myself just to keep the nightmares I'd be having in check.
I can't put much blame on 'em for trying to stop/slow down the carnage in high risk areas like you describe.
I've accepted without contest some tickets I've received when I was clearly at fault and not paying attention. Others I've contested (and won) when I thought circumstances (including the officer's overly hostile attitude) warranted.

I agree that most tickets are revenue only, however I still have respect for what these guys do. We don't walk in their shoes so we see only one side. They see the good in people but also a lot of .....

Just go to a site where a car full of kids have been ripped to shreds and tell me if doesn't affect how you see the world. Next time you see some F up switching through lanes quickly which may cause a poor driver to over react and kill someone? If you just came from a clean up maybe you would want to take it out on the next dufus? Once on I 5 (the grape vine) I had a crotch rocket pass me at looked to be double my speed. I had a two mile view and watched him disappear over the crest not long after and I was going close to 80 as was a lot of other traffic. He was using all the lanes to get through the traffic at this speed. Have to resect the skill as I didn't see him die, however many on the road near him were at risk.

I was once first on site of a poorly maintained older pickup that lost its steering and hit a VW head on. Attractive 25 year old young lady with a husband and two young children lay dead in the car when I got to the car. Up the road, 5 miles was her husband at work and some poor CHP had to go delver the news.

Yes I ride rockets and I like to go fast, but when and where is up to me and hopefully if I ever screw up it will be only my life that is at risk. Treat your bikes and others with the respect they disserve.

In 30 years of service I must have been to 50+ fatal wrecks and countless others and will tell everyone who wants to hear it that speed doesn't have all that much to do with highway deaths.
It's distraction, lack of skill, booze, dope, road conditions and suicides (Yes!). I can only recall 2 or 3 wrecks where people were stone sober and have literally gone off the road because of the speed at which they were travelling.

Myself I clock 10k km's a year on a superbike, most of which are over the legal speed limit and all the close calls I ever had were in city traffic at 50 km/h and less.

Speeding tickets are a municipal money grab and should be fought tooth and nail.
