Ladder series are great, but there are always exceptions. Miller either has it and can get on top of it quickly or he doesn't. Case in point, Kimi Raikkonen. He'd done less than two dozen STARTS in cars period, and those in measly 4-cyl Formula Renault cars prior to getting a drive for Sauber in Formula One. Did well enough in his rookie season in that sub-par car to get offered double world champion Mika Hakkinen's seat at McLaren the very next year, and podiumed his first time out in it. Went on to be a World Champion himself later, of course.
True, let's not forget Nicky going from AMA to to MotoGP racing: Repsol Honda.
