OK, newb here... Have the DDA/GPS and while I have searched and searched, I know only the following:

-How to plug it in
-How to activate on the dash
-Downloaded the software

The thing I need to know is how to start the thing so it tracks the laps, and info gathered as I circulate the track.

I am essentially trying to figure out how to start and stop the unit. If I have to push a button every lap, it defeats the purpose of having this thing...

I thought I needed to pull the high beam switch (pull vs. push down) and that marked the start of the lap and the GPS and DDA would know that location.

Do I need to do that while in the pits and wait for satellite to catch it or something?

The website is a joke and doesn't help. The manual doesn't say anything about it - probably because it started life as a standard.

I should know this and will get flamed, but figured enough guys on here have used it and would know.

Again, did a search and everything is about install and such. Nothing as to how to start and stop it so it records info...

You have to turn the DDA on in the menu screen where you can set the various parameters of race and street mode. Not sure what steps after that.

Go to Ducati's website and download a copy of the 1199R owners manual in PDF. It describes how to use the DDA that's delivered with the bike. Owners manuals are found in the service section of the website.

make sure your screen is in track mode...
push the head light button once you get on the straight after your warm up lap and then it counts and mesures the laps itself

Is it a pull as in activate the high beam or push down on the switch? Does that make sense? I guess I am trying to say what motion as the switch goes two different directions.

Does anyone know when it indicates you have satellite connection?

Thanks for the info on the R model. I didn't even think of that!

You have satellite connection when the word GPS appears on the dash, lower left corner iirc.

Thank you! Good to look for then. I don't think I ever got a satellite feed.

Now, do I pull the trigger only once and it does the rest? If so, not sure why I wasn't getting any info saved...
