I have a vinyl wrap on my base (a glorified sticker:) ) with "Ducati Corse" on either side. I also striped my wheels. Did both before the "R" ever debuted. I didn't do it because I was posing. I did it because I believe my base looks better. I did the wheels because black tires on black wheels IMO has no contrast. I get nothing but complements and people taking pictures of my base. In fact I was at a local bike night a few weeks ago and a guy walked by with his friend, pointed at my bike and said "that's the best looking bike here all others should go home". True or not that kind of stuff puts a smile on your face and is one reason why I ride a Ducati. But back on topic; for me Posing is taking a Base or and "S" and slapping 1199 Panigale R logos on the fairing. But in the end, its your bike do whatever makes you happy, screw everyone else!! :D

Please understand, my post was more of a question than a statement. I pretty much agree with what you are saying here.

You're on bro! What's at stake?

Used to bet "everything and a beer", lost so many times you wouldn't be getting much:rolleyes:

It just made me remember I have one up in WI that I have hardly have time to get up to and ride - WI/MI have great trails through the woods, you'll come up on a sign with mileage/directions for 4 different bars - no speed limits except at night!

It was part of the decal, it was all one piece. The font is actully a bit smaller than the R's, and I got this last Fall bfore you saw much of this design. I liked the Italian colors, as they matched the tail, and the Luimoto seat cover I have yet to put on :)

yea i know the one you got thats why i was asking its more silver than white and yes a little smaller rsr racer had it before he got his R

That's pretty much our setup here.

Fact is I don't care for sleds all that much, it's the degree of delinquency one can get away with that makes sledding soooo much fun.;)

Like dirt biking in a large park - unlimited speed, no rules! I have gone across our lake at 70 in a jetski, but 110 on the RX! They race them off the line in a field each summer - and BTW, a guy had one here in STL, at the Friday 1/4 mi drag competition! He had wheels on the skis.

Understood. No offence taken :). Personally, I really don't get the whole posing thing? IMO, it's just someone else trying to tell you what is or isn't acceptable for your bike.

Who gives two ..... about what anyone else thinks! Do what you like and be happy with it and tell anyone that dislikes it to go pound sand and get F'd!

But tell them in the nicest possible way of course...

I agree on both counts. Well, except the nicest possible way thing. I try to be a nice guy, but sometimes it doesn't go so well.

Leave it on IMO, it's "OEM". It's the noobs with base and S models who add the sticker on that have something to prove :D .

I'm not a sticker kind of guy but admit that particular bit of styling does look nice in the middle of all that blank red space on the fairings.
I've held off getting one primarily for the very reason you cite.

I have a base Pani in red. I put race/track bodywork on and she is not used on the street. I have a Corse decal on one side only since only one shipped from my dealer. If you don't like it I'll just send you to the other side .... :D

Agreed that graphic additions are purely in the eye of the modder. The entire bike was developed with heavy influence from Ducati Corse so I don't feel the slightest bit contradiction in putting a reference on the bike.

I went a different route in that Ducati is always likened to Ferrari, and I've always liked the Ferrari "shields" that are an option from the factory and placed on top of the front wheel wells. So I took the official 3-D Ducati Corse sticker shields and mounted them to my base under the 1199 Panigale decal. I almost went with the bigger size but this is a bit more understated for me. To each there own for sure.

i figured out why i sometimes liked it and sometimes dont. First the sticker is white. Now that is fine on the R because on the tank ducati is written in black and on the side fairings the 1199 panigale is written in white. The accents are also white in color so everything matches.
For the rest of us with base or S models in red the writing is in brushed aluminum (ducati on the tank, 1199 panigale on the side fairings and ducati on the front nose) to me that doesnt look right and would drive me crazy.

Have no fear i found the sticker in brushed aluminum and this will satisfy me.
