Has nothing to do with the bike I believe. :D

We're not saying we would trade, we're saying we want him to trade.

ETA: Beat by a minute.

I hear the R1 forums are amazing. The quickest response times and no hassling. A couple guys over there even dumped the crossplane crank for a v4, put on some s1000RR mirrors and converted the body to panigale.

Seems pretty epic to me.... :D

Saw some pretty bad ... tank fairings too, so much bigger!

As the owner of an 1199 and 16' r1. I wouldnt do it. I love the R1. But there are something the ducati does better than the R1, well for me anyways.

The question to ask yourself is if you think the R1 will make you want to ride it more than you ride your girl like the Ducati does.

Get yours fixed yet?

Being a stickler for detail the R1 could be the most awesomest, greatest, besets bike in the world and I still wouldnt have one. Hell it could even make me a cup of tea on request, still a no Why? Because of that awful plumbing nightmare that is around the right hand rearset. Pipes and cables all over the place. I can't unsee it. Terrible. Anyhoo merry easter.

Agreed that the Panigale is the sexiest bike out there by far but the R1 isnt as bad as some think. The foglight style headlights take some getting used to but theyre not that bad and the performance of that bike makes up for it.

Word of advice Alphamale, if you dont end up taking the R1 you need to sign up as a new member and stay on the down low. You mustve been posting some dumb .... for all this hate lol

Saw the R1 side by side with the Pani - no comparison in looks, the seat is really wide and very tall as well. The headlights are really ugly and only one head light is working, i think if i bought this bike i am going to get a lot of people telling me my headlight is broken.

Didn't test ride it (no license) :(

I used to ride R6's and R1's and loved both!

Do it! Get the R1 and ride your wife's Pani when you feel the urge... Nuff said.

They wont let me test ride it without a license and i dont buy a bike without test riding it :( so i'm caught in a catch 22 position.

They wont accept the same deal next year and demanded i hand over my bike now if i want to do the deal - I don't like being pressured.

I offered them my wife's bike if they want the deal now but they demanded a $4000 change over meaning we have to give them $4000 plus her bike to do the deal lol.

If your happy to get the R1 then go for it. It's not us that's got to like the bike, your the one that's got to live with it Lol

We looked at an R1 but there are a few things that just makes me go "NOT INTERESTED":

The R1 is a typical Jap bike although the best looking Jap bikes by far (ugly: the rear end is too long; the seat is like a surfboard too high and too wide making it really hard for people 5'8" or shorter to flat foot; the lights are really ugly and only one head light is working which means you will get .... loads of people stopping you at traffic lights telling you one of your head lights is blown or not working).

The R1 is nothing like a typical jap bike lol That bike is a very stout beast and is highly rated. You must like a loud bike if you have a harley and duc so wait till you hear an R1 with an exhaust, that bike sounds mean and better than my 1199 with termis(IMO of course)

The single bulb drives me nuts too, i had to ride with my high beams on during the day with my 1098. My buddy has the R1M and it even bugs me when i see it with 1 light on lol

Unless they give you an extended amount of time to really ride the bike i dont think you can base your decision on it. Even with an extended one i dont think you can really make a fair decision, bikes take some time to get used to and feel comfortable with. Every time i trade bikes with buddies it feels like im a newb trying to learn everything over again because the bikes so different

R1 is a trend to get away from a typical Jap bike design for sure like i said it is by far the best looking jap bike out there.

I've heard a nice R1M with akra exhaust on BaronVonGrumble's bike - his bike sounds so nice :)

I think you should take a break for a bit. Stop worrying about swapping bikes and parts just chill and get your license back first.

The R1M is no joke and for the added cost its worth it imo. Here's me and my buddy with his M with full graves and that bike sounds marvelous and makes mine sound tame.

Having had to buy an R1 because we can't race Ducatis in the Canadian series I can honestly say that the R1 is an honest effort for a Japanese manufacturer. A much stronger motor than the 1299, decent handling and affordable performance parts make it an obvious choice. Reliabilty when pushed isn't much better than the Ducs, rear seat is too wide and soft and it's as ugly as they get. A bit prettier in race trim but still ugly. To me it's a tool to win races, period.

The 1299 however is my mistress. Should have sold her to balance my check book but I just can't. Even had the pictures taken, the ad written up but couldn't press "enter". Beautiful, fun and full of caracter, feels like riding a bucking horse to the dance. She will do my street duties for some time to come.

In a nutshell: get both! :D:D:D
