Straight Swap 2015 1299S for 2017 Base R1 good deal?

Honest answer, get whichever one you think looks the best and is the most comfortable for you to sit on. For the type of riding you do, it won't make a .... which bike you are on.

Performance wise, it is splitting hairs. They are both capable of winning races. The R1 has better electronics with their 6-axis IMU, Launch Control and Slide Control. The Duc has more torque across the entire rev range and better brakes.

Financially, the Duc will have a higher resale value in a few years because it is an exotic Italian bike. But resale sucks on all of them teally.

Got offered a straight swap: my 2015 1299S (2016 model) for a 2017 Base R1 good deal?

Would you take it?

Not trying to be rude but it's a ridiculous question to ask here on multiple levels. A simple question to ask yourself is, would a delaership make this offer because it's to YOUR benefit?

Alpha Male, it sounds like you're kind of bored of your Panigale, i would recommend you to go for the swap.

Just keep in mind that the R1 really isn't alive under 7-9k rpm, it's a driving license killer for real, so if you plan to drive "on the torque" with it, it's not for you.

With the ...... trade in I was offered by my dealer I would take it in a heartbeat. I have over $30k invested in my 1299 S and it wouldn't bring more than about $13,500 right now . With the R1 At least I would have a bike that wouldn't stall on
Me in a parking
Lot (or in the middle of an intersection etc ) and that would run smoother.

At this point I couldn't give a rats ... how beautiful the Ducati is. It runs
Like crap and is just not much fun to ride and it is damned dangerous

If you're serious, let's go down to Woods Powersports and make this happen.

I'll spend $16k on an R1 and swap you.

I get bored very easily yes :) I have bought 6 brand new bikes in 2 years :) I just want a perfect bike but there's none.

My perfect bike is: Ducati Panigale shape bike (1 inch wider fairings on both sides at least), Aprilia v4 engine and sound, F4 MV Agusta fuel tank shape, S1000RR mirrors :), and Honda's reliability as well as Japanese bike price ;) I was hoping Honda's new CBR1000RR would fill this void but they have disappointed me with their new typical ugly jap bike so the Honda is out of the market for good as well as the new ugly suzuki gsxr1000 :(

But i have come to a time of my life where i cant afford to spend anymore money on bikes, my family are now more important than ever to me so i have to spend less on my wants and spend more time on the things that i need to do in life.

Oh that's a good point you've brought up on having to rev the crap out of the R1 which of course will mean my bike will get taken off me for good and driver's license cancelled on the spot :(

I feel ya bro :) there is only one Yamaha dealer in my city (Cully's Yamaha) and they hate my guts i put in a bad review on them and they didn't like that one bit.

I ended up giving my 1299s to my wife and now stuck with hers, i tried to trade it in but Cully's Yamaha weren't interested in it so they tried to low ball me because they hated me lol.

This is my last visit to this thread, I should have learned my lesson a couple of pages ago.

I think I will trade it in on a new BMW S1000RR when the time comes.. Overall I think it would be a better street bike for me..
The Yamaha is a fine bike but on second thought I would want the R1-M series and they are hard to find.... I would probably go with the new ZX10R if I bought another Jap bike.. I had one before and they are bulletproof.

Plus I really like the new ZX10 R with the new Superbike style forks and Brembo set up like the 1299 has..:)

Sigh....why am I still reading this stupidity.

I am actually pretty lost at to why you aren't "in jail" like you told us you were going to be in September. And how did you get your bike back after the cops were looking for you and it was impounded and you were out of money ? I am gonna go with...you are a particularly ........ troll.

For some reason, whenever I read his posts, I picture Alan from The Hangover.
