Stumble at 5000 RPM

Experiencing the same issue here. Just started happening. It usually occurs in 3rd gear right at 5000rpm and it has to be me suddenly opening the throttle then It bucks. Today I got the CEL but it went off after a few min. I have the RapidBike Race installed now for about 500 miles with no other mods.

So, Im guessing that this 5000 cut is gonna happen whenever an issue is detected by the ECU, regardless of what kind or where.

My bike got two error codes: Injection Control Unit  and Horizontal MAP sensor. The dealer tried to clear them out but once they switch it on again the CEL pups up. So, apparently its not a mechanical issue.
Up map was checked also. Clear, no issue there.

They will need to have it further inspected and hopefully I get that covered by warranty, dont remember if it is still valid.

That is some weird stuff you got going on.

The folks at BMS suggested that the dip in the powerband is due to the freeflowing front exit slip-ons.

Perhaps that is one of the reasons that Ducati Corse is using longer version headers and other means to build that area up.

I don't know how the RB Module does what it does, but the hole has been filled on mine and I don't get any errors at all.

Perhaps the up-map is triggering these errors?

I was thinking while riding today, you have got to have some kind of O2 sensor failure or other issue which would trigger the CEL.

Rapid Bike Module is a piggyback so I can't see it causing anything? Am I mistaken?

Rode again today and no issues. I didn't try to make the bucking happen by cracking the throttle in 3rd around 5000rpm though either but I had no hiccups. It ran smooth and really strong. I'm sure glad the CEL cleared itself and hasn't returned.

well, I would say it is still a possibility. what if it is causing a misfire at the time of WOT and it triggers the CEL.

I forgot to add that I did connect the RapidBike to my laptop and it updated the firmware after I got the CEL but like I said I am not trying to replicate the problem so I can't say that resolved it nor am I blaming the RB module.

I wish we could have a cost effective interface with the Ducati CAN BUS or whatever its called.

I use the Ross-Tech tool with my Audi and it has been a real help when trying to figure out what is going on.

The CEL certainly has to be caused by something else in the system. Can you get it scanned? Perhaps someone has already posted up similar issues elsewhere?

This 899 discussion comes to the conclusion that there is something else going on to cause a CEL:CHECK ENGINE Light - after Akrapovic Full Ti System Install - Ducati 899 Panigale Forum

.... me..
Now i'm getting this bucking/ stuttering ..
I have the RapidBike Race module, MWR Race Filter

Turned of the rapidbike quickshifter and stumble was gone ..... Almost
It seemed smoother also on blipping the throttle when gearing down with quickshifter off ..,

I don't have a clue
...could be my gear foot is touching the lever ...
When quick ....... off
It wasn't bucking me half as much ...?????

Never did like the thought of these piggyback systems. TB is not giving me any trouble. Bike goes great. I have the MWR Race Filter too.

Maybe time to change.

PS say hello to Arsehammer.

If I recall correctly, I was instructed NOT to update the software/firmware on my RapidBike race, as that could change substantial settings (O2 readings and such).

Perhaps that's the culprit here and you may want to find a way to revert back to your RB's original settings somehow.

Good luck either way..

It happened again yesterday. This time some "spirited riding" through a twisty back road. 1st short shift to 2nd up to 10k, shift to 3rd roll off coming into a turn slowly feed the throttle back in and it does the herky jerk again in 3rd gear at 5000rpm. At speed it upset the bike and made for a dangerous situation momentarily. I have not had an issue since I last posted and was really hoping it corrected itself. I hope RB finds a fix for this cause it never did this before installing the RB. I have no other mods - stock air filter, stock exhaust, never messed with the RB settings and only have used the auto tune. No software updates from the dealer to my bike either as it has not been to the dealer since installing the module.

Anyone ever figure out a fix for this stumble at ~5000 rpm? I have narrowed it down to the Rapid Bike, but haven't seen anyone post a clear solution.

I had the exact same thing happening to me. It was a faulty quick shifter.
They changed it and it never happened again.
