...... and Gents,
I am new to the forum, so first I would like to say "hello and safe riding."
My problem is; today on the way to work I had a sudden loss of power, followed by a stall. I am riding a 2012 Ducati M1100 Evo.
The day before I did an oil change and was meticulous about the correct amount of oil (was on a flat surface, though I did hold it upright) to the point I stopped just short of the total volume of 3L. The oil in the looking glass was somewhere in the mid. I also ran the bike twice for a very short time to make sure the oil I was adding got into the filter.
I then took it for a 60mil ride without complication.
This morning I started it and let it warm up (40 Deg F. this morning) and when I went out the bike might have sounded a little "noisy"... not sure if that is real or not as I have been ruminating on the event all day.
I turned the bike off and looked at the oil level (for some reason) and it was covering the glass. This didn't make sense to me as it was fine the day before.
I started the bike again without complication and headed to work (7 mils). About 5 mils into the ride the bike lost power, then stalled.
No leaks, maybe a burned oil smell... no warning lights, all the fuses were good. Both spark plug wires were on, but I pulled them anyway and found the top GTG and the bottom very fowled.
It seemed to me it was a symptom of being over filled and the oil spilled into the cylinder which lead to a fowled the plug. If so how/why? Is it likely I blow a seal? What should I look for and/or do?
Looking for guidance...
