Left home West Midlands at 04.30 Panigale 1199 and MT07 on the trailer. Tracker triggered and within 10 mins phone call from Road Angel to say your bikes moving! Impressed does what it says on the tin. Five minutes later a Police van happened to pull out of a side street behind us, pulled us over to check we owned the bikes I hope this would happen in the event of theft!
Weather dry and un eventful till M20 when the trailer jockey wheel dropped down ( Indespension sold Michael the wrong sized jockey wheel) and the tyre on the jockey wheel flew off. Out with the gaffer tape (note I always advice to take some on your journeys!) wheel taped up and continued to Dover which was bathed in bright sunshine. The 10am ferry to Dunkirk was delayed slightly due to a technical problem but made up time at sea.
French motorway very smooth but surface deteriated markedly as soon as we crossed into Belgium. Passed Mons incidentally the 23/8 commemorates the 100th Anniversary of the battle of Mons. A lot of surface water noted, we stopped at a roadside snack bar near Mons got talking to a couple from Shropshire, they have had rain since arriving on Tuesday in Belgium and Holland. Light rain as we passed Namur, we arrived at our hotel in Rochefort bathed in sunshine.
Recovered in the bar from the journey, a nice meal at our hotel La Fayette, Rochefort met a lovely lady from Brussels we exchanged addresses with promises to write, she is 80yrs the same as my Mother.
I have to say I was uneasy leaving the bikes on board the trailer on the main road , I slept lightly with the window open!!!

Day 2

Fried eggs, fromage and smoked ham for breakfast at 8am, sun shinning and off we head on the autobahn . We filled up with diesel at home and chose to fill up again at Luxembourg because the fuel is very much cheaper at €1.17 per litre. It's just as well we did fill up as it was 100 miles to the next service station on the autobahn in Germany .
Temperatures reached 21C mainly sunshine and a few heavy showers. A few bikes out and about this afternoon, have to say up to now not really missing riding.
16.50hrs we arrived at our hotel in Winterrieden in Bavaria. Quite a few bikes whizzing past the hotel catching the last of the sunshine. Looking forward to arriving at our destination in the Dolomites tomorrow, it it 4 and a half hours from here.

Day 3

Had a good breakfast with an actor from Augsburg as you do!, very interesting meeting people from foreign lands. In fact we haven't seen any British vehicles for 2 days. Set off on the A7 great road very scenic, has taken us to the B170 at the foot of the Alps bit of snow on the peaks, headed southwest towards Innsbruck. The area around Fussen in Bavaria I have to say is wonderful.
Arrived 15.00 hrs at Hotel Cirmolo in Bosco Verde our stay for the next 10 nights
A very warm welcome from Stefano the owner and Roberto who was a guest with us last year. Roberto has been writing to us for a year now and lives in Bologna! Stefano helped us unload the bikes from the trailer and has a wonderful garage for the bikes.

And large garage

Day 5

Michael had a problem with his right shoulder some months ago, maybe frozen shoulder anyhow last few days it has been painful so much that today he had a day off riding and went walking. I had a couple of hours riding some of the local passes I particularly liked the Passo Giau

Fussen is a beautiful place I was there 3 weeks ago, although it was on a rented Kawi Versys 1000, still great riding, from Fussen we went over the Glossglockner pass into Austria......brill

Just did a trip up the Glossglockner pass myself . Summer in Europe was a bit ordinary but a great trip anyway .

Today our friend Roberto ( from Bologna) took us for lunch to a pretty village Aggordo, note Roberto is wearing a Ducati tee shirt I bought him but he doesn't own a motorcycle

This evening I heard a familiar voice calling to me, it was Pierre from Catalonia on his BMW great to see him again. We have arranged to ride with him tomorrow
