I thought the comparison between the Aprillia and Ducati was pretty good for the two bikes they were comparing. Problem is the Pani wasn't stock with the Termi exhaust. So throttle response which was the biggest complaint is dependent on the tune. But as we've seen in this forum ducati is all over the place on throttle smoothness with the Pani.

So the 1299 S lost to the Aprilia?
Yep, that's what they said.

Agreed, but Ducati wouldn't provide a stock bike so that's what they got. Could it be the slop in the throttle like the 1199 had? Not sure if the 1299 is the same.

Seemed like a fair assessment of both and not a huge margin of victory. As with any comparison it's subjective and up to interpretation and opinion of the group riding the bikes.

When I bought my my RSV4 I was easy to get comfortable with it day one. Very forgiving, great handling, smooth power delivery.

Nothing new here.

OK to admit the Pani is not the best bike on the market. Spoiler alert: it's not.

True, nothing new but a little different approach from what I've seen on normal superbike shoot outs with one on one elimination.

I ride it because I like the way it tickles my balls and makes me feel inside. Owning this thing is an emotional decision, not a rational one.

Pani's (especially the 1299) are a PITA to work on, it's hard to ride fast, it's expensive to purchase, maintain, upgrade, or repair, and it's a show off bike.

All cons I live with because of the way the exhaust pops when I grab fourth gear between T8B and T9 at The Ridge. Nothing else matters.

All good points, and the best point that matters most is ride what tickles your balls. The Panigale is the most beaten bike out there, hands down.

Would be fun to build up an Aprilia...let's see what Ducati does with the V4.... The gears are turning....

No, not mine but I wish. It's actually EDR Eric Dorn's personal bike. It was there the last OMRRA round and unfortunately he laid it down in a race.

I would love to build an Aprilia and am looking forward to the Ducati V4 as well.

Yeah - that bike is gonna be good. I'm blown away by all the negative comments. People see one unofficial blurred image and write it off already. Hilarious.

I ALMOST regret building my 1299 to race, but by the time that bike is paid off and used up the V4 will have evolved into an even better platform. Same as if I had purchased an 1199 only to then see the 1299 evolve from that. No question the 1299 was worth the wait compared to it's predecessor. V4 will be no different...

That crash cost him half a pinkie! Anyone who likes that Aprilia, just email Eric, he never keeps a bike more than a few months.

I've owned Aprilia's since 2010, two Tuono's, so i am familiar with the V4 motor, even though my Tuono is down about 15Hp on the RSV4R. It is a fabulous engine to ride, extremely linear.

When I decided to upgrade my sport bike from my '07 1098S, my three choices were the Aprilia RSV4 RF, the 1299S and the S1000RR a very distant thrid.

I chose the 1299S, even though it was the most expensive of the three, and am extremely happy with it.

These bikes are so close, that it's splitting hairs to establish a winner.

The Aprilia RF has a tough maintenance schedule if used hard on the track, or at least the 2015 did, which with Aprilia's absolute crappy resale value, made me a little more wary of owning another Aprilia.

These bikes should have been bracketed, in this comparo, to be the finalists.

Every bike has a tough maintenance schedule if used on the track. Aprilia just chooses to publish it. The race kit manuals for every other manufacture aren't that much different if you read the service interval sections. A lot of them are actually measured in hours, not miles.

Anyone have predictions on who the overall winner will be? Winner from each match up?

I'm gonna go with the Kwai and Suzuki winning their matchups and the Aprilia taking the title. That's just my guess and maybe I'm biased toward the Ape...;)
