Surviving The Tail Of The Dragon

No offense, but you should practice cornering a bit more then posting videos...maybe back home you know the roads, but take you out of your environment and your all over the place. Every time you crossed the double yellow just thank your lucky stars there wasn't a car or another bike coming the opposite way. You were fortunate you took the ride on off hours. Numerous times either your off into the other lane or you were falling off the inside of the roadway onto the gutters...

This video should be a reality check for you...

Morning time is a great way to go slow or crash. Moisture on the roads takes forever to burn off due to the lack of sunlight in most sections.

6 PM is nearly perfect as most are too tired to ride after a day around those parts by then.

Great roads all around that area. I've ridden on my scooter, my 125 two stroke and the panigale and made the killboy photo highlights everytime. I need to take my BRZ down there and have some fun in the car. But bikes make the passing easier.

I almost went two weeks ago but rooms are all booked up and the miatas were in town. They like to parade up and down making the passing harder.

I'd be all for a panigale meet down there.

I would have said it nicer but I agree. Nice power wheelies and you definitely can transition quickly from up to leaned. Not sure of your body position. Plenty of room for improvement like most of us. Good job overall but some mistakes are more costly than others.

Chris

Yeah... I would definitely encourage more time spent keeping your bike on the correct side of the yellows and less time videoing... You could have been in serious trouble several times during just that one ride... The 129 is a great road but needs to treated with a great deal of respect... For your own safety please consider getting better with your lines...

It's ok, i'll let Gill vent lol. I am aware of all the mistakes I made and yes this vid is a learning tool (for each and everyone)...I've watched it about 20 times already.

There were 2 times I crossed the line that were deliberate, well more like obviously no oncoming traffic so I didn't go into survival mode.

I don't claim to be the best, or even any good...besides, these types of mistakes can be expected the first time you ride it Gill...but thanks for watching ;-).

HAHA took you long enough...thanks for watching :)

oh btw, I didn't even bother reading what you had to say...

Some advice from a riding coach once gave me... Never ever cheat on your lines...

some advice, you and Gill should try to make babies...if you haven't already tried. Take care bro, find somewhere else to linger.

The 2 times you crossed the line were 2 times too many... Every time you ride it should be in survival mode. Don't wait for danger to be in your face when you decide to practice it...

better to go slow and clean with correct lines than fast and cross the yellow-- not because you will crash, but because you may hurt someone else. get it?

Some advice...I'm sure these two little guys would miss you should something go wrong, and you owe lil' man a ride...

I agree, this was my attempt at slow and clean...I eventually picked up pace a little because the Pani doesn't like going slow and 1st gear wasn't working for me.

I've learnt a lot from one pass and it will only get better the more I ride it.

Oh and went out there for the experience of a lifetime, not to make a video to show you guys. Why wouldn't I record my 1st time riding the dragon tho...?

haha im laughing about this, but its one of those laughs that's followed by you getting slapped ;-)...its cool tho, I aint no cyber thug...ride on brah

i'm on your side. i'm glad you're enjoying yourself. didn't realize you have kids. it's dangerous on the street as it is. just be sensible. i used to push it and i'm just a lucky statistic amongst a majority of very unlucky fellow ones.

i scrolled randomly through your vid and saw several issues. you post. people comment. a lot of super adept and experienced riders die on that road, regularly. in fact, the wife of one of those riders was selling his other bikes recently-- he died. he was fast. he was smooth. he went in a little hot. be safe, if not for yourself and the other people on the road, then for your kids..

and if that's your version of slow and clean, then you may want to consider slower and cleaner [that'll get you faster and smoother.] again, this is just my unsolicited advice...

Ima keep takin' smack to you...till you ride a little more sensible ;-) Maybe on one of your rides you'll think about the annoying forum members and think twice about your riding style.

Point taken, trust me...ive studied enough videos of the dragon, but like I said before nothing can prepare you for the kinds of twists the dragon has.

I ALREADY ACKNOLEGED MY MISTAKES AND OH .... MOMENTS !!

I'm just puzzled at the few who always hate on guys who make videos haha. Go milk each other and get off my thread...you're only making it more popular anyway ;-).

Gill you're not annoying, you're a joke!!

allow me to explain so you're no longer puzzled: you post vids entitled BEAST MODE and HOW TO SURVIVE and then you vid yourself riding not too smoothly, not too wisely, too fast [on public roads] and you cross the double yellows. if you can't comprehend the feedback you're getting, then there's not much more i nor anyone else can add....again, i dont think many of us up in here are trying to hurt your feelings, even if the words come off as harsh...
