Like others have said, I’m here to watch good racing where talent is the defining factor to winning races, not equipment. Even in prototype racing which isn’t an open free for all. Bikes have to adhere to all kinds of rules and why not have tires be one of them?

If you want to watch good racing where talent is the defining factor then watch the RedBull MotoGP talent cup.

Tires can adhere to rules, I'm not saying they shouldn't but that doesn't mean they should be supplied by one manufacturer... so as not to defeat the purpose of competitive development.

This sport in its general nature doesn't exist for entertainment purposes only, it's not MMA. It is founded on a technological advancement (i.e. the motorcycle, automobile) and should continue to further develop this cause for the greater good. The entertainment is merely a byproduct in my opinion.
 
To be able to rate them, I guess you need to be doing at least 49s at Jerez on it.
Starbucks rating is useless.

You can buy pretty much any WSBK or EWC or IDM tire as a commoner.
So there is lots of common ground, just not with MotoGP.
We are talking MotoGP, so the difference matters, regardless neither you or I are going to try MotoGP bikes or tires. Ive ridden michelins and pirellis back to back and pirellis are grippier but drop reasonably fast whereas the michelins are more consistent.

A formula change would be good. 1000 cc twins, 750 cc fours, 600 cc V-8's, 350 cc whatever with a rootes pump, 250 cc whatever turbo's.
 
Winglets can smooth airflow these reduce fuel consumption by millions of gallons of jet fuel by smoothing airflow the sharp edges of the wing create.

Reducing grip and displacement is a recipe for disaster. 800’s were barely rideable without crazy electronics. And reducing tire grips is just going to cause more crashes and injuries.

Get rid of the ride height devices and limit aero. That’s low hanging fruit.

Ride height and aero for sure. Regarding tires, I’m inclined to defer to Spies’ opinion on the issue over folks with less experience.
 
The problem is that if you improve tyres, then you can go faster with more bike development, which puts more pressure on tires which improve, and the whole cycle begins again.

All the bitching and moaning about the Michelin front is because of the radical change in bike development with aero. I guarantee that if they bring a new front within a few years it will no longer be good enough. So in some respects the front is now the limiting factor, why would you want to improve it when nearly every rider on the grid has arm pump surgery and the bikes are so fast they are exceeding the safety criteria for quite a few tracks?
 
Marco died In 2011 I think. that was still part of the 800cc experiment iirc. the bikes crashed a lot then too and many blamed the reduction in cc which was an attempt to reduce power reduce speed. you all don't suppose messing with tire traction could backfire on them in any way?

If they want them to go slower, then make them peddle. Easy.
But then make the tires better, because we still need to buy tires.

My understanding is the increase in crashes was attributed to the 800’s higher corner speed and peaky power band.

Although there was an initial reduction in power, eventually they were able to raise the rev limit and make nearly the same power, and the power delivery was all top end and quite abrupt (closer to the 2 strokes).

Lowering grip will not increase the number of crashes once everyone gets readjusted. Same number of crashes just they're going slower. What happens when the grip starts going off in a race? Shinko's the future official tire of MotoGP.
 
Well get to see what happens in Moto 2 and 3 as they swap to Pirelli's, so far from the test they are faster and like the extra grip but unlike the dunlops the grip will drop off and bring tire management into race strategy, presently its full throttle the whole race distance. Michelin could make a tire with the same grip for 27 laps but it wouldnt have the high level of grip (and lap records they covet), I like the fact they have to manage the rubber it makes for good racing, Pecco was very clever this year and while hes fast, Martin is faster but not as smart at tire management.
