I am on the verge of getting a tank extension plus seat for my 1299 from Raceseats.it

I want to ask about anybody's experience using a tank extensions. Is it worth the cash.

Thanks.

i think zohsix01 used it or a similar one

I liked the idea and tried it, but for me it put me too far back in the seat and completely changed my riding position and I didn't like it. I have short arms and it made the reach to the bars too long to maintain good control while hanging off, and altered my foot/leg position.

It depends on your height. It gave a better position on the motorbike and the feeling.

Stock seat but modified foam. Fit without any problems. Added only some micro gum under to keep tank without scratches

I use one and so do most people who race the Panigale. It puts your weight backwards when riding and makes it feel more like an a Ducati 1098 sort of position. Loads of people were having off throttle low sides on the Panigale when they first came out and these are credited with helping stop that. Ive had two off throttle low sides on the bikes without the tank extension and not had any problems since. I'm six foot and it feels good, just a bit further reach to the bars. Most of the racers are like dwarves and don't seem to have any issues :)

Do you run one on the pani R as well, or do you find the later chassis has corrected that?

Just curious as I never had an original 1199 variant, but several track mates did when they
first came out, and they just didnt get on with the chassis feel at all.

Thanks. Yeah I'm 6' as well and I always feel that under heavy braking I still have to push off with my shoulders too much to back and enter the turn. Having said that I've seen guys way faster than me not use them so go figure.

thanks, I'll buy one for sure as thats the only downside to the Pani. for me at least.

I use one as well. I think they are worth it. I am 6'2. A good way to tell if you will like it is to ride on the track sitting further back. I did this and bike was waaay more settled. It is for sure an individual preference thing. It also allows me to relax a bit more on corner entry. Just make sure you are sitting to one side before hard braking...lol. It will jack your nuggets up quick.

so i just recently purchased one of these, being delivered now. just curious what brand tank grips people are using with these. im about 6'2" so hoping it will get me into a better position on the bike. but still nice to have some grip on the tank im guessing

Great thread, as i was also looking at this option for the future..

seems a shame to hack about a DP race seat though to get it to fit..

i saw that the Evo Composites tank cover also includes the extended rear tank part and is able to be trimmed to match 3 different seat heights, might also be worth a look
