Is there something wrong with our bike - how do we fix this?

Engine dies sometimes when we pull the clutch lever in !!!!

The stealership can't find any electrical fault so they sent us home :(

Just got the bike back from 1st service with new software update but still having the same issue when pulling in the clutch lever the engine would shut down :(

Maybe there's an issue with the kickstand sensor? If I remember right, if the kickstand is down and you pull in the clutch it will kill the bike. Sounds intermittent so that's tougher to track down even for a dealer unless there is a fault code and in this case if it's the kickstand sensor there may be no way to track the problem easily.

I was riding the bike i am pretty sure the kick stand is not down because the bike was moving.

Thanks we will go back to the dealer to see if they could find the problem with the sensor.

I and some panigalefriends had the same problem on the 1199. Suddenly dies. One does it does it 5x, another day never.

Check the small and tiny metal plate that does the "click"-sound when you pull the clutch. If this little plate is not correctly in position (quickshift-sensor somewhat, so it knows when you pull the clutch and it is not necessairy to cut off the ignition), it cuts of the ignition completely and so the engine turn off.

After 10 seconds the setting of the plate has been corrected and I never had that problem again, now for more thatn 1.5 years... :D

No kidding, I can see your riding it in the video...that wasnt what I said. I was explaining how the sensor works and that it could be the issue of it wasn't working correctly.

Good point. This sounds like the most logic answer.

Thank you i will check into it.

So i took her bike to the dealership but they couldn't replicate the fault however they have changed the idling .. wife's bike is now able to cruise around in 5th gear and great news is pulling on the clutch no longer kills the engine.

They are also replacing the screen on warranty: apparently there are 2 white lines coming up across the screen, there seem to be faulty white lines taking over the entire TFT screen :(

The friend of mine had similar issue few month ago but the problem just disappeared...weird

OK they said when we pull the clutch lever it goes into idle mode but the bike was idling too low so the engine got cut off.

They made our bike idle much higher now the problem has not resurfaced so far.

We are starting to think about getting rid of the Pani already starting to fear how much $$$ we will be losing when we are outside of warranty period.

Unfortunately the 2017 Honda CBR1000RR and the new 2017 Suzuki as well as the Kawasaki zx10r are down right obnoxiously ugly (typical ugly japanese bike) we may have to go to Yamaha R1 :( only because of their reliability history and besides the R1 isn't that ugly for a Jap bike !!!!

R1 reliability history? They had a major recall to replace the transmissions... Not sure of any other issues. From what I've seen all bikes and manufacturers have their share of problems. Some more than others and some are lucky enough to not see any of them. So my thought is buy what you like and don't base it on issues.

reliability ?
07-08 R1 history of engine dies in around 25K-30K km (I know at least 10 bikes with that issue) there was a FB page "my r1s engine also died afte 25K km":D
TT isle of man i think 2y ago michael dunlop switched back to the S1000RR for the races because (if i recall) they found oil getting into the airbox etc.
2016 worldwide recall complete engines were changed (trans issues), my friend had his engine changed after 2K km...

after 5 GSXR in a raw and looking on the 2017 line, im definitely not regretting (first duc, fingers crossed)

That's why we bought Ducati :)

2015 R1's had transmission recall, but it was all fixed, so far no issues with 2016's and the 2017's haven't been changed other than they painted the engine black. I think 1299 aside, it is the best alternative out there. The 1299 looks so beautiful though.

That's why we bought the 1299 :) kept going to the dealer kept looking kept walking away but the next day it's the same old routine go back look at bike walk away go back look at bike walk way finally had enough so we bought them :)

It's like a super model she's so sexy how could you refuse to take her home right?

I've had the same issue on my anniversario. Happened a few times so far, usually in second, coming to a light, clutch in, dies.

Also have a '16 R1, love that bike more :) Would very much recommend. Ducati for looks alone..

I had the same issue today. I was at a light, yielding to take a left turn. I was stopped with the clutch pulled, bike started idling low and died while I was at a stand still. Had to quickly restart to get out of the intersection.. kinda sketchy.

New bike to me, but sounds like others have had this issue. Is dealer reflash only way to fix this issue?
