Lol for that price, u can get a 911 Turbo S in the states. Does your income match with that? Here in California, the minimum wage i think is like $9/hr.

We in Australia get killed by government taxes for sports cars, I recently sold my 2008 Cayman S, cost $152K brand new, the current GT4 Cayman is going for $190K out of the dealer, I almost cry when I see the prices the rest of the world is paying for these beautiful cars.

Crazy!

I can buy an '08 Cayman S for about $40k in great shape

Not sure, minimum wage here is about $18-00 an hour but we don't tip for anything, you can't rent a house or apartment for under about $250-00 a week.
These car prices are mainly due to our luxury car tax that the govt has on most of the exotic marques, you need to be doing pretty well here to be driving one. This is why bikes are very big, great weather all year round and very affordable, might be why there are quite a few Aussie riders that do well on the world circuit.

Cheers

$250/week? Lol

In a decent los angeles neighborhood, u can't rent a studio for less than $1000. Even that might not be possible. L.A. living is a ripoff!! Houses in decent neighborhoods sell for over $500-$600k.

I'd do $250/wk any day of the week lol

Or you could buy in Vancouver and get really awesome 700sqft 1 bed w/den condo for $800,000, like my buddy bought. Or move outside of the city and get a small single family house for $500k, minimum.

That's a pretty good return on investment for the price of the house, Sydney in Australia is probably the worst for real estate prices here, I saw on a program not so long ago that the average Sydney house price is $914,000.00, it is getting like London, almost impossible for a young couple to buy a house, my generation is possibly the last that could get into the housing market at reasonable prices.

The next bubble is the fiat currency bubble - the world is broke

That's a bargain! $1.2m buys you a tear-down on a very small lot in Vancouver. If you're lucky and it doesn't turn into a bidding war and it goes for $1.5m.

It's absolutely ridiculous. The crazy part about these key places is that the bubble never bursts and they skew the data for the surrounding areas - even the country sometimes. I have a higher than average household income and couldn't afford to live in any of those places of I wanted any quality of life.

So I moved away. Actually, that's not the reason, but I did move away and ended up in a place that almost has the same issue due to very high median income.

In places like Sydney/Vancouver/etc the market bubble stays inflated due to foreign investment, population density, and people who are willing to trade quality of life to be a yuppie. It is what it is, but it's not my thing. If I had a career that allowed me to live where I wanted, I would be on about 5 acres on a lake/river/sea with my closest neighbours 10 mins away. And I could do that for $600k in some really nice places. Cheaper in some too.

Anyways, WAY off topic.

There is considerale ignorance about rotaries, especially people who haven't actually owned or worked on them, but the primary advanatge is the extreme compactness of the engine and it's power to weight, which rivals a two stroke. The motor is extremely simple and proved itself in endurance racing before it was banned, seen as an unfair advantage vs. pistons. The biggest issue (aside from poor fuel economy) with the rotary is heat and combustion chamber temps - those issues can now be managed with water injection and/or E85.

Blown seals, poor fuel economy, and difficulty with tuning for high boost can be added to the list.

A 3 rotor with a large turbo put in a stripped down shell is hard to beat for overall performance. Although I echo the opinion that a Superbike is the best bang for your buck thrill ride available.

Almost no left hand drives to choose from here, and when they do sell it is at a premium. Many just grab a low mileage Japanese RHD import.

House prices are ridiculous in Vancouver and the surrounding areas. A house was recently listed for over $5 million, and was sold for over $8!

Apex failure is almost always the result of detonation/pre-ignition (especially under boost) and again these problems have largely been solved with more knowledgeable tuners and water injection. My engine has been rock solid for six years of hard use - rotaries can be reliable, it's all in the tuning, and, unlike Porsche, a new motor build isn't $15,000+, it's more like $5000, the engines are dead simple.

The FD RX-7 comes about as close to the "bike on 4 wheels" concept as you can get without going to something like an Atom or Elise

BMW is now talking about running water injection in the M4

I asked him to do a proper review of the bike, the same way he reviews Cars.. We'll see if he does.
