First off I wanna give props to my main man Gunny who hooked me up with John Hutchinson of South Central Race Center for my tire and warmer needs. Again, thank you Gunny for all you've done for me and being an awesome friend! You da man!
After the hookup from Gunny, I had the pleasure of talking with John and he gave me a wealth of info on tire choices, compounds, carcass design, and tire pressures. Whew! It was a lot to take in but based on my current track experience and ability I chose to go with the Pirelli superbike pro slick. I know others have had reviews of this tire saying it's junk but based on John's explaination and what my abilities are I think it was an easy choice making the progression from street tire to slick world with this tire. John also explained the design was improved on last year and he has had good results with this tire based on what it's designed for. Also note that I'll be using it on my new RSV4 track bike that I've never ridden and I was concerned about pushing hard enough to keep the heat in a full race slick. This tire will heat up quicker and easier which puts my mind more at ease... I'll be using warmers also to get the tires up to temp from the get go.
For warmers I ended up choosing the Chicken Hawk digital pro-line. I know reading comments and reviews the single temp work great but after talking further with Gunny and Ljuice on warmers I went with the multi temp. Great meeting and chatting with you Ljuice and thanks for all your advice and help with the tire warmers! And of course, thanks to Gunny for having me reach out to Ljuice.
So, in the end I had a great experience working with John and got a great deal on tires and warmers from South Central Race Center. I highly recommend them to anyone here. If you need direction on who to talk to and get dialed in with your gear and parts needs then talk to my man Gunny.
Thanks again to Gunny, John, and Ljuice for all your help. I'm almost ready for my first track day with the RSV4 on 4/20...It cant come soon enough!
