The New Panigale R versus Superleggera

The new rules put Ducati in better parity with everyone else IMHO. Should be a cracking season for WSBK as well as WSSTK.

Sorry I haven't kept up with ever changing rules. Can you please update me.

Kinda Superstockish.

Porting is allowed, cams are free. Valves, pistons and crank must remain stock. Aftermarket rods are allowed but they must weigh the same as stock. Electronics must be a kit that is available to all teams and can't cost more than 8,000 Euros, which is about three dollars in real money:D. Suspension components also must be available to all teams/privateers and have a price cap, but the number is escaping me now. No more of Ohlins leasing the crazy high end stuff to the factory teams.

In other words, you could actually build a higher spec motor with a reputable shop pretty easily now.

Lol, that would do it. It's interesting to me that the practice times aren't any further off the times from last year with teams running more power and Moto GP levels of electronics.

Although I think I read somewhere that Aprilia was saying they only lost 15 horsepower, I was expecting closer to 30 with the rules changes.

Best part of the rule change is aprilia lost hp and Ducati and kawi gained it lol

This.

I'd go with the new 2015 Panigale R and customise it to get what you want from it.

What is the difference between the R's Ohlins fork and the SL's FGRT fork?

FGRT forks are "new style" bottoms (machined caliper bracket as 1 piece, non removable) and new style fork internals

I haven't looked at if the FGRT is used on the R (i think it is), you simply have to look at the model # stamped on the fork, usually located on the bottom underside of each fork leg - but FGRT forks are available for Panigale 2011 & newer

So the FGRT and the "S" fork is totaly different?!

Tank looks awesome....

I have not looked to see, or know what bike(s) the FGRT forks are on, but if the 1199S does not have FGRT forks, then YES (!) they would be different IF the 1199R and SL do have them :) -- i do believe the R and SL have the FGRT's but i just haven't looked to know for certain

If you have an 1199S, just look at the bottom of your fork tube, way underneath at the very underside of the fork leg, that is typically where ohlins stamps the model...sometimes it can be very small, or hard to read, but it is definitely there

There are a multitude of things that ohlins can do when they release a new model fork, and you would have to research out the differences (ohlins web site is a start) - (springs/valving/clickers/tube wall thickness/caliper brackets) to name a few

That tank is awesome. Had a convo at my dealer today and was told that dealers are not ordering the PaniR since they have 14'R's sitting around and Ducati may acutally make less Pani R's in 2015 than they did SL's! So if you want one you better drop a deposit.

Sounds like marketing BS to me....

Thanks!
But from the pictures it seems that the 2015 R have the "S" fork without the electronics. Only the SL have the FGRT...
Do you think it's a Big differense on the race track?!

In real money...what do you think an SL is really worth? I'm guessing $40K
