The Pace...

one of the few times I disagree with you Phil ;) The original pace which came out probably 20 years ago I read early on, the Pace 2 has some great updates for riding on the road in the US. Phil you're lucky enough to have come up in an evironment where motorcyclists are more respected, and the skill level of the average rider AND car owner is head and shoulders above us. Having ridden in Italy a bit, the pace definately not as usable in Euroland as it is here.

i know, i should have added a ;)

the pace is a good thing. especially, if it makes riders think about what happens in their riding.

i had several severe crashes in my early motorcycle years in germany... until i came across a book from Bernt Spiegel - "Die obere Hälfte des Motorrads" (the upper half of the motorcycle)

after having read the book ~ 5 times over and over again, i became much faster and safer on the roads. it is a kinda like "the pace" just without speed limits :D :D :D

I guess I feel that despite many years of riding both here and in Europe that I will never stop learning or stop reading about how to improve my skills.....

I have to say one of the best learning tools for me was the code superbike camp I took in 12 and all the track days I've done in the last two years.

Friends I've been riding with for years have commented on how much better my riding in the mountains is now. Now, to keep it in perspective, I've been a solidly mediocre rider since starting back in 97, so guess in terms of skill, I'm now maybe one notch above the highest grade mediocre class! ;)
