He likely could take his circus to WSBK and not only clean house financially, but probably add another notch to his belt.
I'd have to disagree. We have Jonathan Rea, Chaz Davies and Tom Sykes om WSBK. There seriously fast guys WHO regularly races just as fast AS the leading group in MotoGP, but om production based machines. I don't know if you remember the combined winter test at Jerez, where JR was a full second faster than all MotoGP guys on the same day?

I absolutely do. I think it would be tremendous to watch no matter what result. Rossi said during the Ducati years that he was likely to do it. But retracted that statement after getting back on the Yamaha. I also remember Rossi getting into race pace with a broken leg during testing years back on the R1.

Rumor is Honda keeps Pedrosa because of his family connection with their title sponsor Repsol? Not sure if there is any truth to that or not, just what I've heard from some friends in Europe.

Regarding Rossi, how can anyone say he is done? Will he win the 10th title? Prob not unfortunately, but MAYBE. Look at his results

2016 = 2nd place
2015 = 2nd place
2014 = 2nd place
2013 = 4th place (1st year back on Yamaha from Ducati)

How can anyone say he is done when he finished 2nd in MotoGP the last 3 years? At a minimum he is the 2nd most competitive person in the world the last 3 years right?

Cue mark...not just anyone but the one and only world renowned Rossi statistic tracker and analytics guru. :D

Not that I disagree but mark will...

Rossi is still competitive thou.

He hasnt slipped down the order into obscurity.

But there are other riders who are coming up (Miller, zarco) But they would be snd pick by the top teams against the bigger names.

Im enjoying watching Vinales out in front, rather than the Marquez/Rossi two-some. (I work with to many Rossi/marquez fan boys)

can you please explain how rossi is competitive? please use data and not cause you are a fan. please disprove the following.
1. hasnt won anything since 09
2 is on the best machine in motogp and cannot beat his teammate (maverick or JLO).
3 since 2010 has averaged 1 win a season while the championship winner has averaged 5 wins a season.
4 if you cant win a race how are you to win a championship?
5 rossi marquez 2 some obviously you havnt watched motogp recently cause i cannot remember when rossi and marquez were a 2 some in the front. can you please show me when rossi was challenging marquez consistently (not a race) anytime since 2013. the last 6 titles were marquez and lorenzo no challenge from rossi

the answers that are unacceptable is rossi is motogp (says nothing about how he will win another championship)
rossi makes more money (again tells me nothing about how he will win another championship.
rossi has the most fans etc you get the idea. so when you can disprove 1-5 then you can say he is competitive.

Hey Mark, here's a piece of 46 memorabilia you might actually like to own!

Rossi's hand written letter of resignation to Yamaha that he wrote in 2010. Up for auction.

id be much more interested in an apology letter to ducati for taking and wasting their money. while mentioning i dont understand how casey was so fast on the ducati and i failed miserably.

Rossi said, he still failed to understand how come Casey Stoner was so successful on the Ducati where everyone else failed. "Casey was the only one rider who could be fast with the Ducati," Rossi told reporters. "All the other guys that tried have destroyed, not his career but his mind... So congratulations to Casey.

I don't know that much about motorcycle racing to understand a lot of it. I think it is impossible to dispute that at some point, you call it a day. I guess there are may factors that determine that and VR probably has more in his wheel house to retain a factory ride that other riders simply based on revenue. Rossi at some point has to step down. Today would be great. Problem is what if he goes out and lets not say wins a race but gets a few more podiums this year? now what? You tell him, "look old man, its over"?. His fans are just going to laugh and tell you that 3rd out of a 20 rider field is not "over" simple as that. Yes its not the best. No one is disputing that fact. If Rossi has to go and I completely agree that Yamaha needs a replacement, then 80% of the damn field needs to go. Its filled with guys who will only see a podium in pictures. Doesn't say much for the sport. There is a big difference between a guy who is not winning and a guy who cannot win. I guess Honda should have sacked Pedrosa years ago oh but wait, he is winning again. So yes, Rossi needs to give Zarco a shot but I still think if you put Rossi on Zarco's bike today, Rossi still beats 80% of the field so I guess my point is that maybe they just need to clean house all around. I say that because Maveric is not doing a whole lot better against the field or Zarco than Rossie is. Rossi may be in fact done in GP but he sure does have a lot of company. They should just have a 6 bike series and call it a day. To say that they are fielding a competitive series with 20 competitive bikes is a joke.

the problem is doc and im going to try and keep this civil. 3rd isnt out of 20 riders its out of 4 riders. there are only 4 people that have a shot at the title each year. 2 repsol riders 2 yamaha riders. so you have a 1 in 4 chance to win the title. Lets be honest though honda is having a tough time and if it wasnt for marquez being so talented it should be between the 2 yamaha guys.
so rossi has a 50% shot of winning every year just for showing up. he isnt competitive so he loses every year.

If your gonna mention Miller then yo might as well include the whole damn paddock as contenders...LOL!!!

I agree with you. All these ......s saying he should quit but he is still winning points and entertaining the crowd. Bunch of people who think they know better than Yamaha Racing. Go figure.

still winning points he is basically assured of a top 4 finish every race man you rossi fans have skulls 10 ft thick. he is not and will never be competitive again. he wont beat maverick not even close he cant beat marquez. jesus marquez has 2 dnf thats a 3rd of the races not completed and still has basically the same amount of points.

Then Zarco will get the seat in 2019 and Rossi will start his own race team, which may even include a MotoGP effort on top of Moto3 and 2.

well carmelo said that he will expand the field for rossi. why not he already tried to manufacture maverick losing with tire 070.

yamaha racing knows they have their number 1 rider it was jlo now its maverick. the rossi thing is a way to try and make money not win races.

question to you rossi fans seriously all jokes aside. lets pick another sport any sport that you are a fan of in this case ill pick basketball.

did you want jordan to stick around in a wizards jersey or remember him with the shot over the utah player i think it was Russel.
hockey gretsky
baseball say micky mantle at the end. the list goes on.
how about Ali getting his head bashed in at the end this is whats going on now. we have been hearing it since 2010 then you gave him a pass for the ducati years ok fine then 2013 hes back. its now 2017 how does it not sink in

while it is almost certain that 26 is there because of family connections who would do better than him on the repsol? crutchlow? miller? rabat? come on all are not pulling their weight although crutchlow just signed 2 more years with lcr.
fact is miller 3 years were a failure rabat will be gone and crutchlow failed on every machine he has been on tech 3 ducati. only 2 guys have crashed more than crutchlow that is iaonne and davies. so if not pedrosa who else?

2nd place last three years in a row is not competitive. holy ...., you just can't fix stupid.

I guess you have to be fair at some point. Rossi is on a Factory bike. He is not "Factory bike" material. Ok. Well Lorenzo is on a "Factory bike". Maybe he needs to go as well. If Pedrosa slips back to where he has been, he needs to go. So basically we have MM and MV in the top spots. That was supposed to be "the series" then we have the rest of the field. So let's put Zarco on VRs bike. Now what? Three way battle for 1st? (Assuming the Ducati wins were circumstancial) Who is the poor sap in 4th place every race? Might as well just have an A,B and C group. MM,MV,JZ in the A group. The other Honda and the two Ducati's in the B group and all the dreamers (sans disaster at the front) in the C group. This whole factory bike thing does have some merit however I think we can all agree that the "Factory bikes" are two Honda's,two Yamaha's and two Ducati's and that they have all had their share of riders who were "not competitive". My point is that the "factory ride" is not a guaranteed podium. I think MM is the best guy on the grid. He is also the most costly rider to keep on a bike. I can't imagine the weekend bill for keeping him on machinery.

28 points separate the top 5 riders with 11 races to go. Still a lot of meat left on the bone this season.
