You get better results at the edge of the rim if you overspray onto the sidewall. You can then easily peel the excess off of the sidewalls. I'd mask the contact portion though.
 
I used blue painters tape to keep it off the sidewall I know the over spray will peel off but it took less time to peel off the tape instead.
 
Some updates to the bike. Custom seat and some new vinyl
