I got to hold this thing at the AIM Expo in Orlando last October as the CDT guys were there. It is crazy light and a beautiful piece in person. They said there were considering a street version if there was enough demand. You can bombard them with emails if you're interested.

The pictures I posted last February:

Removes 11 lbs, cost 1800 bucks, that's 163 bucks a pound for lightening, that would be considered almost free by racing standards. Especially stating with something as light as the Panigale. It seems like 1000 dollars a pound is more common once you get to a certain point, and then it becomes insane at the F1, Moto GP, Top Fuel level.

Motoholders Aluminum Rear Subframe: Ducati 1199 Panigale

3 rd post on this, must think i am a shareholder... :D

Just order the satin finished subframe from CDT. I wanted to know what happened after you returned their products. Did they replace the subframe? Was it more of a finishing problem, or did you feel the whole product was compromised?

Thanks.

I am not exactly happy to relate such negativity, but I have a lot of experience with CDT (gloss and carbon). I was hugely disappointed with the really poor quality of CDT Satin parts for the 1199.

Here are the issues I have with CDT Satin carbon which I sourced from OPP.

1. The weave is not a match to DP, get up close and you see that.
2. The stain finish is a dull and lack luster.
3. Structural imperfections across several components.
4. Quality is simply no where as good as DP nor Carbonvanni.
5. CDT Quality control is poor.
6. OPP was good at replacing parts it just took quite some time.

As previously mentioned I have a lot of CDT Gloss on my 1098 and maybe the CDT gloss for the 1199 is way better.

Bottom line: Avoid CDT satin carbon for the 1199 until such time as the quality gets a lot better.

I have to agree with CaliDuc. I'm having some issues with a piece of CDT carbon that I bought. It was a blemish that should never have made it out of the factory. It took me all of about 1 second to see it on the part. Now it's taking forever to get me a replacement part. I always thought CDT was a reputable name in carbon but I'm kind of having my doubts about them now. Maybe we just got a couple of bad pieces. I don't know. I'm not sure who else to try for carbon. Maybe Carbonvani?
