Throttle Problems

So, to make this story as short as possible. While waiting for my last carbon piece I put the beast back together to test out my new ECU tune. I ran it around about 40km with no fairings except the nose and tail. I was told by SPG that the tune would run very poorly for the first few miles as all of their tunes do but they usually come out of it after about 5 miles. So, I'm still having issues and I talked to them and they suggest reset the TPS, which makes sense to me but I want some more opinions.

Things I have done to my bike;

1. Delete charcoal canister.
2. Remove fresh air injection system into the exhaust.
3. Install Akrapovic exhaust and MWR HE filter. (Necessitating removal of the exhaust flapper valve and servo motor.)

Now my issues;

1. At low speed about 20-25kph if I am anything but gentle on the throttle, the bike almost leaps out of my hands, activating DTC and popping the front wheel up a couple times.
2. When cruising in any gear, at about 4k rpm if I twist the throttle a little bit it has a noticeable dead zone before it does anything.
3. If I wrap the throttle at 4k rpm the whole bike shudders and shakes until it gets to about 5k rpm.
4. It has a complete lack of power in all modes, wide open throttle in first gear from 3-4k to redline and it will not even attempt to lift the front wheel, and a complete lack of power in all situations.
5. Sitting at idle, if I rev it up to 5-6k it spits sparks and flame which to me seems like its really rich. It also does pop a few times.

The tune I got is the same tune they use for race bikes, all emissions systems deleted, full exhaust, intake. So the tune is correct, and it has a checksum after it is flashed so it can't be screwed up. I believe the tune is fine. I went over everything that I did as far as mods, everything that needs to be plugged is plugged, everything is tight, all the sensors are hooked up properly, no vent lines for the tank are pinched off. I have no issues starting the bike, it turns over right away, much better than it used too.

All of these problems seem to be related to the throttle. Dead zone, jerky motion, lack of power. Do you think resetting the TPS and possible the A/F Ratio would cure these ailments?

As it's a race tune, it's probably designed for high rev range, not 1k - 5k. Leave it for the track.

Race tune or not it should run right everywhere. Get a new tune.

Well I don't know what the problem was, I sent my ECU back to for testing in their bike and it worked perfectly for them. He reset the learned parameters in the ECU and sent it right back to me. I threw it in my bike and now it runs perfectly, although I have the electrical issue in the left handlebar now, right signal and up switch only work half the time. Side note. This bike is a monster now. Everything I did over the winter; lower gears, lighter drivetrain, massive weight loss, exhaust, intake, fresh air delete, ECU tune make this thing ridiculous. On low fuel, 20% throttle first gear makes the front wheel jump straight into the air, second gear 4k rpm and it pops up like a pogo stick. So much more power and responsiveness.

In regards to that left handlebar electrical issue, I'm not sure if your'e aware but it is now claimed to be a recall item, and your dealer will replace it for free.

I'm taking mine in tomorrow to Ducati Seattle to have that very issue taken care of. They say it's a small part installation within the wiring harness and shouldn't take more than 20 minutes.

There's more information around this forum about that issue, as well. Not sure if you already knew of it or not, but figured I'd share it out nonetheless.

Glad to see you got the tune situated!

Did you check your sparkplug? Seems your symptom related with weak sparkplug..i got the same issues with you and i changed the sparkplugs it all gone..
