Steve,
why are you saying anything by Bridgestone?
A friend of mine used the RS10R on the mountains on his 1199S and loved them!

I just bought the set (RS10R)
If you can share your experience I would appreciate it.

Thank you,
ChasDuc

You go harder as temperature drops. It's counter intuitive yes. Softer tyres will get shredded before the whole carcass gets to temperature when is cold.

Ok, but I looked up the Pirelli chart using these search terms: "motorcycle tire compound chart for track temperatures"

Guess I need to re-read what I have been doing for years. I would typically run a medium up front and a hard compound in the back.

Guys that ran soft/soft would be sliding all over the place by late afternoon.

Here's the Pirelli compound chart for their slicks:

I never run a Hard. Our Endurance team used an SC2 front and got the whole 4hr race out of it, but still ran the SC1 rear.

When you say "late afternoon", do you mean they were on the same tires all day? Soft compound race tires aren't going to give optimal grip for a full day. We measure tire life in laps or sprint races. If somebody is using "days" as a unit of measure, they have nothing to complain about IMO.

To be fair I didn't have my bike set up for me at that point. Regarding wear I have many other models I've used in the past and the RS10s were by far the worst. Very similar to the older BT003s which I used on my set up R6 with Ohlins. With the 600 I got two days out of a rear but they got quite slippery towards the end. I have no complaints about the front.

Switching to Q3s this winter because I loved the longevity of the Q2s on my track-only R6 a few years back. Would get 3-5 track days per set.

Buy a second set of wheels for the track. You shouldn't short yourself with a combo tire on the track.

Oh, I will eventually. I only do 2-3 track days per year so it's not high priority right now. Eyeing the new Bell helmet dropping next year for my next big purchase.

Precisely. 60 laps is/was the limit for a set of slicks going from new to ready-for-the-dump. And that was on a 230 lb machine making ~95 hp.
