If it is your first trackday, sports mode is ok. If it is your first trackday on this bike but you've used other bikes, race mode won't hurt. Much.

Ok thank. 1st track day all together

Check every single bolt on the bike. Then at lunch, check them again. These bikes vibrate A LOT.

Livengood ended up either safety wiring or putting Loctite on EVERY nut or bolt that isn't removed regularly for tire or sprocket changes. I had my QS stop working because the rod backed out a couple of race weekends ago.

That qs rod backing off also happened in my 6hr race, costing us some finishing positions. Could've been 7th finisher, instead finished 11 juust outside the top 10. Got so many cheap parts on my bike and yet the only thing that failed was a ducati part.
One year on and I am still in pain about it.

It cost me a win also. It would be different if NOBODY had a quickshifter. If they banned QS then I would gladly grid up with everyone else without one.

But when everyone else has one, and you don't, it sucks. I would lose 1 bike length to the faster guys every time I had to blip the throttle to shift and then get back to WOT.

....... hate that .....

I used the Ducati plastics on mine, held up okay, tested too.

Spare handle bars as if you do drop it they will snap. If you have crash bungs etc. use them.

Absolute must is to cover the tank, even if its just the corners (just above where your knee would grip). I had a low side, relatively okay but I just scuffed the exposed aluminum finish on the tank at one of these corners, pretty much wrote the tank off.

Remember a small jerry can of fuel and a long spouted funnel to refill the bike.

Yes, this!
I used the flamingocorsa full fibreglass tank cover. Had a low side 2 years ago, and if it were not for that I'd be crying blood. Instead, my tank was immaculate although the fairings were shredded.

Well I did my first track day on the R..I have been on the track before but on a gsxr 600, 750 and 1k.

The R feels smaller than my 600 but has crazy power..I started the day in Sport mode but after the first two sessions and not being able to out run my boy on his MV down the front straight, I switched to Race mode.

Race mode is a Beast. The bike is totally different. Power wheelies all over the place and if it wasn't for traction control I don't think I would have saved some of the slides out of the corners..

The only thing I noticed was the uneven wear between my front and rear tires. The rear had food wear across the whole tire but the front had most of the wear in the center and the sides were barely scuffed.

Taking the bike to the local suspension guru to get it setup. Hopefully that will correct the issue..

Nice! I've learned that set up is key... $50 to the track side suspension tech is money well spent!

On my 1199 I just mounted the air temp sensor to one of the headlight mounting holes. Not in the air duct at all, and I never had a problem. For the tail light, there are two plugs under the right-side fairing near the front - above the electrical components box - I disconnected both of those and never had any warning lights. I didn't need to get any plugs at all.

Yep, I did this same thing on the 1299. You just have to unplug the sensor for the front brake and the rear brake, so the bike doesn't "pick up" the signal that they are being actuated, which would throw a code/error if you had the actual front/rear lights themselves also unplugged/disabled.

Just pull the fuse for the headlight and no plugs needed.
