Looking at trading the 1199 for a leftover Diavel. Not riding it as much as I hoped and after taking the Diavel for a ride, I kinda fell in love. My question is pertaining to the trade value. The Diavel will be 17499+ttl no shipping or crate fees. The are offering me 13800 for the 1199 w/ ABS. This seems low to me but maybe I'm not in touch with reality. What would be a fair trade value on the bike has 1200 miles and in excellent condition? Thanks

Gotta figure on loosing around 20% of its pure value as you wheel it out the door - pretty much for any freely available bike/car.
Dealer needs that margin to make it a viable used proposition, plus a bit of profit.

You can expect "trade value" to always be roughly $2K lower than book value and right now book value on a base model no ABS is arounf $15800 so you already getting robbed.
Secondly, you should never pay anywhere near MSRP on a left over !! At $17499 thats already more than I even paid for my Pani out the door. As a left over you have the upper hand, dealer is desparate or getting close to it at this point. I wouldnt buy a left over Diavel for more than $16500 otd, and assuming you bought the Pani from them, that sounds resonable.

First year is a bummer......you end up loosing 20% and if you go to the dealer for a trade-in they'll be expecting you.
In 2009, I wanted to trade my 1 year old Hyper for a 1098 and they offered me less than I ended up getting for it last winter!

Used values suck always on trade ins.
I'm lucky enough to have both the bikes and they are so different they complement each other really well.
If there is any way to keep the 1199 as well you'd probably not loose any more money in another 12 months time?

why not try the diavel Forum and see if any owners would be willing to trade their Diavel for your bike as i know a few diavel owners who traded their bikes for the Pani.
I personally don't think you will get any decent trade prices from a ducati dealer so it also might be worth while trying to sell it privately.

When my little guy was on the way I looked into dumping mine for something "practical" and dealer offered my $12K. Base ABS, 2,400 miles, full termis, alarm, and DP carbon bits. I was happy with that offer...went back and told the wife I'm "stuck" with my 1199!
Dealers are asking $15k-17k for used 1199 ABS, so they need make about $2k off your trade in. $13.8k sounds reasonable, try to get a better deal on the Diavel.
I like the idea of checking the Diavel forum and see if anyone's up for a straight up trade.

Trading a Duc for anything else is just madness, Sorry, its just madness and you dont deserve any help for that kind of request!
