Hello everyone, I have a v2 only for circuit use. Now my gear indicator is sometimes out of order and then does not show the correct gear anymore. Then -- appears instead of 3 or something. Sometimes it happens immediately after 2 corners, sometimes after a few laps. After that it just works again.
Strange is that my data logger aim Solo 2 Dl does indicate it correctly, it is directly connected to the ecu. I also sometimes have when downshifting when I have to go back 3 times that it only wants to blip once and I have to use the clutch.
I have a Cordona quick shifter, maybe these two faults are related!

We have already replaced 2x the gear sensor 1x magnet in block several times learned. but the problem still remains. Who knows what it could be?

Did you do the gear learn procedure after changing the posistion sensor? I don’t think it’s necessary to do if it’s working properly after changing, but yours is clearly having problems.

What direction are the corners where it goes weird? Have you tried going back to the stock quick shifter? Does it act like this when the engine is cold? Finally, when you installed the gear sensors did you go through the re-learn procedure? It would also help if we knew what year the bike is.

My 1199 has this problem when it's cold. it flickers between N, 2 and 1 just sitting there. I had to disable the sidestand safety in Tuneboy to alleviate it not starting with the stand down. Once it warms up everything is fine.

BTW, I'm not seeing the rest of the thread posts for some reason.

it is a panigale 955 from 2023
The next question would then be, have you tried it without the datalogger? The sending unit is just a resistor setup. Having the datalogger in-line might be giving a false signal to the Chassis module on the bike, changing the voltage reading just enough that the module thinks the bike is in a different. There are actually 2 pieces labeled 'gear position sensor' One is outside the casing and is the pigtail that attaches to the wiring harness, the other is inside the casing, and attaches to the shift drum. Which piece have you been replacing? 55243921A is inside the casing and is attached tot he end of the shift drub. 55243842A or B is the Pigtail.

Yes thanks, even without datalogger the problem is there. Replaced both internal and external. Also the dashboard has already been replaced. It is very strange, especially because I do not see this problem with anyone.

okay, this is starting to sound like a connector problem. Check every plug for the speedo sensor, wiring to the ECU, and plug going into the Dash for any signs of corrosion or discolored pins. If in doubt clean those same connectors with alcohol and a small brush, then reseat them using silicone dielectric grease. Also check the grounds on the engine for corrosion and tightness. That's the best advice I can give. it sounds like the connections are good for a little while, then something happens, they heat up, they shake a bit, they heat up and change shape slightly.. something like that can drive people crazy trying to find them. If there is any kind of degradation in the conductivity of the pins in a connector it can cause the piece to heat up or increase resistance at a questionable connection. I'd start with the Instrument cluster and work my way back through the wiring to the ECU or Chassis module. you could be getting a voltage drop or ground fault that rears it's ugly head only after a little while.

I'd also advise checking the place where the wires go into the back side of the plugs as well. Sometimes a pin will back out or get frayed wires in that area. It's usually a manufacturing mistake that only shows up later in the bikes life. After that check for burrs, worn spots or abrasion on the wiring harness where it passes through or contacts metal. You have an intermittent problem of some sort. I've chased down too many intermittent signal/power problems in my day, and this sounds suspiciously like that is what is happening.

Like I said that's the best advice I have at the moment. Good luck.
